Not at my school its not....

I was over-ruled by by my middleschool students who queried my silent "s" instruction with the korean teacher....... Result? Foreign teacher babo....


Have them look up the pronunciation in an English-English dictionary or use www.m-w.com to listen to the pronunciation. You win!!

I'm sure all the homophones and similar-sounding words cause confusion too if they don't understand the context, which low-level students often do not. I've found most students to be really poor listeners. Some sound like they read well because they know enough phonics to say the words well, but their comprehension is often not that good, because they can read it and not know the meaning, just like reading Korean for foreigners.
