Opera Adds BitTorrent Support
Opera Software announced on Thursday it has launched a technical preview of the Opera browser for Windows, Linux and Mac that includes support for file-downloading provider BitTorrent.
Integrating BitTorrent in the Opera browser delivers a faster download time for the end user by using full bandwidth and reducing the chance of in-transfer delay when multiple users download the same file.
Opera hopes that offering support for BitTorrent will make it easier for users to download the platorea of legal material available, such as Linux software and computer game demos. The Opera browser will also be offered for download as a torrent file.

I hope that Opera's future releases give you the option not to install BitTorrent support. I feel other BitTorrent clients are more mature and would be comparatively more robust. I haven't tried the new Opera release yet, and I probably won't. I tout Opera as a superb browser, but I'm not that much of a fanboy to want an all-inclusive kind of program that does stuff other than browse. I don't even use the dinky IRC client it comes with. RSS feeds, okay, but that's a browser kind of thing, what with XML. If Opera really wants to go with multi-functionality, then they should just make it plugin capable so that users can opt for a slim browser that just purely browses. |

I have to agree with pang. If opera wants to do stuff other than browsing it should be installed as a suite rather than a program and allow users to choose the components.
I only use opera for browsing and would be happy if I had an option not to install the E-mail client or the IRC client. That being said there proberbly is a way to get rid of it all if I chose to look through the Opera forums.
I havr the say that Opera is a superb program which you can normaly customise to the hilt. |
