Got this in my Asiana newsletter but it's dated June 23, 2005

Over 3.4 million frequent flyers have spoken with their votes! Asiana has won the distinguished award of the "World's Best Cabin Staff" in the Skytrax 2004-2005 traveler survey.

Asiana was also voted as one of the "World's Ten Best Airlines"....

...Skytrax, the world leading airline quality monitoring organization, interviewed the planet's most experienced flyers on their perceptions of the the 16 quality attributes of the industry's cabin staff.

anyone find this survey slightly skewed?! Very Happy

I imagine that Koreans believe they are now the "planet's most experienced flyers" Rolling Eyes

But they are a good airline. The food is good, the planes are one time, the stewardesses are pretty, and they're polite. I guess once Koreans do deserve bragging rights. Every time I fly Air Canada I'm once again embarassed and ashamed for my country when I see how rude the service is and how plain the airplanes are.

I second that, but from the American perspective.

Yeah, Asiana does bring the goods. This survey is probably a lot less skewed or biased than the ones which proclaimed ICN to be world travelers' favorite airport, or the New York Times article likening Itaewon to West Hollywood and Shinjuku.

It's a bit like saying that Lemon Zest Bleach tastes better than Pine Fresh: They all suck.

Always unbearably cramped (even if you are lucky enough to sit at the bulkhead and get decent legroom, if there's anyone sitting beside you it's still shoulder-room opseyo); the food is over-processed swill; the drone of the engines means that watching movies or listening to music leaves you with permanent tinnitus; the toilets are like some OAP's chemical porta-potty; the in-flight literature has no porn; it's almost guaranteed that at least one of the other passengers seated near you is going to be an insufferable a-hole; and last but not least, we all know that the flight attendants actually hate you. Smiling like that don't hide a thing, buddy, I know what you're thinking.

Oh, and by the way, Lemon Zest is no way as good as Pine Fresh, not even fit to lick its boots. You have my word for that. ǹ!

Well, I'm all for Singapore Airlines. I'd even pay a little extra just to fly with them again. (A little. I'm a cheap bugger.) I was hugely impressed on my first flight over. I wasn't looking forward to my first flight of such a distance. I'm a big tv freak and fortunately I was able to watch a huge variety of movies, sitcoms, news, whatever on my own little personal screen. Gawd, was I impressed. Of course, just prior to that flight I had flown to Van via Air Canada Crying or Very sad .

The stewardesses! Shocked Very Happy The service was incredible. No not that kind. I thot for sure they were way overdoing it. It was all around incredible. Then I stepped out into Kimpo airport in mid July. Crying or Very sad

Yep. Both the girlfriend and I wouldn't mind spending a little more for Singapore airlines.

The assumption that Asiana is making, or Skytrax, is that millions of travelers fly Asiana each year...granted, several million do...but to claim that the "planet's most experienced" are flying Asiana is bollocks

they are claiming that either 1, Koreans are the most experienced travelers (bull ddong) or 2, that millions of business travelers (arguably the most experienced) are all traveling Asiana... again, I call bullddong on that...most of that 3.4 million is Korean respondents....we all know how things work in this country...

Singapore has them all beat, hands down...better service, better food, better onboard entertainment, better everything...

It is obviously a biased 'poll' but Asiana are pretty good. Much better than Korean air anyway. KA are shocking and as bad as KLM.

The toilet ajumma has it right, flying is not a lot of fun.

It did not make the top 7 in Best Airlines, but that does not mean it was not voted number 8, 9, or 10

I read a while ago something like 8 or 9 millions Koreans travelled abroad in 2004, which sounds like an awful lot. Maybe 8 million tickets were sold, maybe to a million different people?

Yeah, I paid an extra 75,000 Won to fly with them instead of United or Northwestern back to the States. Much better than either of those two crap airlines.

As for Asiana, just flew them to Osaka; seemed decent enough.
