I think that if immigration now want us to produce a sealed degree then most of us will have problems to get it for our university. I certainly will as it's not done by my college but the Irish Awarding Government body thingy so that would be a major pain for me.
If immigration keep getting tougher and tougher then it will scare a lot of fake teachers away but also a lot of the real teachers too. |

I think the only way to ensure we have legitimate degrees is to fly the head of your school from the University of graduation out here and a lengthy interegation, perhaps a lie detector test too. In fact two separate contacts from the Uni cross interegated might prove more worthwhile.

Now your talking my language. But why fly the head of the school to Korea for that? The applicant would be enough, and they're already here aren't they? |

Who told you that, the school or immigration? That is a new one on me... only a couple weeks backpeople with new jobs were saying all they had to provide was a sealed transcript- and not necesarilly sent directly to your school.
This is getting ridiculous now... another minor reason to work somewhere else.. |

All of this is going to make it very difficult to come to Korea on your own dime to look for a job. Well, for Americans at least.
30 days isn't enough time to find a good job, have the transcripts sent directly from your university in America across the Pacific Ocean, get the blue paper, and go get the visa. Let alone another diploma.
Absolutely ridiculous. |

I already know a couple of people who started jobs and are working illegally until their transcripts arrive and E2 blue form is processed.
Its going to make worker abuse a bit more easy for bosses I think. |

Don't apply. It's stupid.
I will never apply to one of those jobs - one of my graduate degrees costs US$50 for the degree plus $5 for the transcripts - just to apply!? Nope. You'll spend that much and they won't even have the courtesy to send an e-mail and say, "No, thanks."
Off to somewhere else that pays better without the BS. (uh, at least for the next job) - this one is doing fine. |

Even if I were inclined to look for a real teaching job here after my kiddie hogwon contact expires, this certainly helps me make up my mind.
It's not worth it.
Looked at like a thief in the mom and pop stores. Now it is assumed that we are frauds until we prove otherwise.
Too many hoops to jump through for a job. Come on, this isn't the Secret Service, is it? |

| Well, my university wants $150 to send the sealed diploma and sealed transcript to Korea (including the DHL fee, so I guess it's not THAT bad of a deal.) Grrr. |
