Well I'm disappointed as my wife and I ordered a JVC HR-XV3KR online and it looked awesome when I read the features. I told my wife that I had seen a crack site and that "probably" I could find a code to unlock it. I know I should have checked before buying it but I didn't. I went to that great website, forget the name now, but it was listed on here a while ago and mine has NO crack for it. I wondered if anyone else happened to have it and was lucky enough to hack it themselves or had a Korean service guy do it or something. It's the combo vcr/dvd player. Also it's supposed to play Cd r/rw's, but I've had NO luck with any of the disks that I've burned working on it. Any help would be appreciated.

If you do find a hack be sure to add it to this page.

Yeah thanks this was the site that I was talking about. It doesn't have a hack for mine and I've tried on yahoo looking but so far no luck. Ugh! My wife thinks I'm an idiot not checking this out before we ordered it.

My understanding is that no modern JVCs have hacks. You'd probably need either a hardware mod or new hacked firmware - if either have been produced yet...

Well I've spent the last hour on the internet with NO luck, so yeah you're probably right. I wonder if there is any place in Yongsan I could take it to get it modded. I wouldn't mind paying as I have quite a few Region 1 dvd's. Does anyone know if/where one can get a dvd player modded? Thanks in advance......

You need a hardware mod. If you can't find somebody in Yongsan to do it, you can order one from this site.

Do other JVC models have hack codes? Try those.

One site I saw said the last time JVCs had hack codes was 1998 Exclamation

Actually there are hacks for other models of JVC, and I'm not talking ancient dinosaur ones either. On the above mentioned website there are a few others for JVC's but not my model. If I knew where in Yongsan I needed to go, I'd probably go there, rather than take a chance ordering from the net. I do appreciate that link you sent, my only concern is because mine is the Korean model, I wonder if it will still work. Anyway..............

Sorry for not being clear - I was talking about hack codes (that is, codes input via the handset to make the player multiregion) rather than all types of hack. Modded firmwares are available - some in the public domain (as on that site) and some not - like the one offered by that company for your model (it does say "all regions" on their site's description, but I wonder how Korean customs would see it!).

You could watch ebay for people selling firmware images to burn to DVD, but it could be a long wait. If nobody is selling them anywhere, I'm not sure you'd have much luck at Yongsan (though you never know).

The "KR" in "JVC HR-XV3KR" just means Korean model. All of the HR-XV3 models are the same machine, just sold in different regions.

As for Yongsan, just go looking around in various shops and try to find some place that sells your model. Ask them about region-modding and see how much they'd charge to mod your unit. (If they can do it.)

Ok I appreciate all your help guys. It probably would be a good idea to take a look down at Yongsan and see if it's possible. Cheers.... Very Happy

Oh I understood what you meant by the way. I was talking about handset hack codes, as there are some out there for other models of JVC, just not mine.

Most of those video/DVD combo units don't seem to have hacks.
