I want to get a pet.

Now here is the problem. I'll be in Korea for another 2 years...or so I figure. I will probably go home to Australia after. Australia has some very strict quarantine laws.

Any suggetions on what to get? Not fish. Fish are cool and all, but I want a pet I can interact with.

Go to your local vet. Adopt a dog that has been abandoned. At least he will get some loving. And maybe you can find him a good home before you leave.

Exactly. Or a cat, since they are majorly underappreciated in this country. It's not like someone else is lining up to give the kitty some affection. Two years in an animal's life is a long time and just put some effort out to find it a new caretaker when you leave in two years. I'm sure you could do that.

I have a rabbit, not that much mess or easy to clean, they become social when they get to know you and are very cute.
You can get them for cheap and only feed them pellets, I made the mistake of feeding my last rabbit lettuce and I killed him Crying or Very sad
PLUS if you get sick of him/her you have the ingrediants for a nice stew Twisted Evil

You have a rabbit? I've had one for the last 6 months, and she's got way too much personality for me. She pees on my bed and armchair whenever she gets the chance, leaves pellets everywhere and nips when she feels neglected. When I go back to Canada, I guess she'll go back to the farm she came from, and get herself a bunny boyfriend. In the meantime, I cover my furniture with waterproof tarps, and tuck in my legs when she gets unreasonable.

My rabbit doesn't bite, but she does have a foot fetish, she loves feet, socks or shoes.
She will let you pat her on the floor and even come up to you for a pat, but your not allowed to pick her up, she has a cereal box tha she rips up to pieces and eats when she cans, that saves the walls and the furniture.

My old rabbit loved soju, I put my drink down, soju and orange juice and went to the bathroom, when i came back he had tipped the glass over and drank a good portion of it, he just sat there after that and didnt move for a while, I was a little worried, but he was allright.

Yeah, feeding a rabbit pellets only is a good way to be sure that it doesn't live too long and make it inconvenient for you when you are ready to leave Korea. Rolling Eyes Rabbits need fresh veggies, lots of hay, and occasional fruit.

Here's a link to a site full of good information on how to care for your rabbit: http://www.rabbit.org/faq/

You can find lots more with google and phrases like, "rabbit care".

EDIT: On the off chance that you were being sarcastic or funny with your pellets only remark, I apolgize for my gruffness. See my id name? That about sums me up and explains why I react the way I do where animals are concerned.

Thanks pet lover, I did exactly that, and one site that looked reputable said just stick to pellets.

I just gave her some carrots and will see if she will eat it.

My rabbit had a lot of personality, I was sad when he died.

Yes! Go for the . Always a winner in the most amusing pet contest, especially if you dress it up in a little red waistcoat and fez.
