Won't be specific about a town, but Western Australia is the go. I'd say 90% of non Aussies who've been to both coasts tell me how much better it is on the West Coast. Extremely laid back.
I would suggest Perth, Fremantle, Broome, Denmark, Esperance, Walpole, Augusta, Margaret River. |

WA definitely. Perth or Kalbarri or down Bunbury way. Freo is good for visits but way too ... (what's a non-confrontational word for flaky?) to live in; unless you could move into the Sail and Anchor. That'd work. |

Coral bay in W.A was my favorite place to visit...probably more of a retirement area though. Excellent reef all along that coast.
Depends what you want i guess. Melbourne has the best of City life I think. Perths a bit too neat and quiet. |

Melbourne for me personally, but there's a lot of good cities, depending on what it is you want from the city. |

Hi,
I'm not Australian, but have been living here for a year and a half. I live in Newtown, great community especially if you are gay or lesbian. It is close to CBD, cafes, shopping, China/Korea town, Uni
Sydney is a great place to live. Nice beaches, and many national parks nearby.
For any city it all depends what suburb you pick. Ideally I would like to live near the water. Bondi is way too over-priced and filled with POMs on working holiday visas. I have been thinking about moving to Maroubra or Bronte. Both lovely beaches that have not been over-developed yet!
One thing about Oz is that you need a car. We don't have one so living close to Uni and the city are essential.
Also, Oz is expensive but the salaries are high. English teaching runs from 25 - 65 $ / hour depending on the school/location/contract/experience.
It is very isolated, and a far way away from home (Canada) which means that airfares are insanely priced and long.
I like living here, and think we are going to stay a little longer than originally planned. Actually we are considering applying for PR and calling it home for a few years.
It really is a good life here. Just need to meet some ex-pats from Korea to reminse with....
Pm me if you have more questions.
Cheers,
Chonbuk |

Cool, I think I will. I'm curious to know what kind of visa you're living on. |
