None of you have lived in LA have you? Well besides Dan, who called you all eco-Nazis.
Not that I disagree with you all, but increased gas prices would be a rather unpleasant hit on those living in places such as LA. |
Well the US is at war. They ought to adjust. High gas taxes are a much smaller sacrifice than what citizens accepted in world war II.
Let them buy Hybrid cars. Or kits that let them use frying oil from fast food places.
As I said they could throw in a tax cut for lower income people. |

Why attack SUVs? What's the difference if an SUV drives locally a few miles or a smaller sedan that drives hundreds of miles more? Is the argument about pollution or the use of gas? Drive what you can afford.
Has anyone noticed that Korea hasn't cut back on their driving since they invented the wheel? Gas prices be dammed, they drive more than ever. |

I'm told that back home petrol (gasoline) is around 91 pence per litre. As for today, that's approx $1.58 per liter. Does it stop anyone using their cars? No, because Britain has the most overpriced, unreliable and patchy public transport, so there is no alternative. In some countries with decent PT infrastructure, raising fuel costs might have a beneficial effect, but in the UK motorists are no more than a captive cash cow for the government. |
