Personally, I know a lot of people who by all rights should be famous....they are one of a kind and are doing (were doing anyhow) some really great, original things. |
Do you know me? You should.

I'm talking about talent here, not publicity or how many arena shows your record company lands you or how often your video gets played on MTV.
Elliott Who?
If talent were judged on how well-known an artist is then that would make Celine Dion and Michael Jackson the most talented artists in the world, followed closely by Brittany Spears and Mariah Carey.
Nirvana was an artificially created "Milestone in Music History":
Kurt Cobain just happened to be in the right place at the right time (actually he'd probably agree that it was the wrong place at the wrong time) where record companies and media picked up on a nascent cluster of musicians feeding each other's creativity, and turned him into the poster boy for the latest fad.
Tragic without a doubt.
But it just as easily could have been Eddie Vedder or Chris Cornell or Mark Arm from Mudhoney instead of an unstable herion addict.
Cobain and Nirvana weren't the most talented, just the most MARKETABLE. |
