The BBC's Andrew Winstanley said devices had been found but appeared to have been dummies, containing no explosives.

Doesn't make much sense. Was it a practise run gone wrong do you think?

I think it's the police trying to downplay it, that's what I think.

ABC just broke in on AFKN.

I don't think they're downplaying it, they're behaving professionally and not hyping people up into hysteria. Panic can cause as much damage than anything else. I admire the resilience of Britons and the professionalism of the authorites. There are loads of police on the streets keeping order and practising best practice.

London is crawling with the anti terrorist units and probably lots of special forces - sas and sbs, m15 and other specialists. It's a mopping up operation, the trained ringleaders have no doubt fled the country. As Derreck said they're probably trying to do something before they all get caught.

Blairs on now and he's actually being very honest and professional about it. Even apologising to the Australian PM for this taking up too much of their day, with this nonsense and thanking him for the support. Blair is even being humourous about the cricket.

I like aussies too. Aussies are generally great.

Blair's on now,

You can't let terror and fear of terror rule your life. Take a leaf out of the Londoner's and Britons book. It is nothing. We are too strong to be undermined by these bastards...

If you have the normal non-cable TV, it's on BBC World right now.

True, but you can take adequate measures to make your life safer, plus I live close to where I work. While people now may be stating that they are not afraid, they soon will be if this starts happening on a regular basis. Combatting this terror is made even more difficult by the fact that the bombers are 'Brits' themselves.

The coverage on the bbc is great. just go to bbc.co.uk and then go to the radio section. They have everything, no pictures but all the info you have and it's all live.

Who needs TV?

this is so frustrating! bags blew up. windows shattered. people freaked out, but no one has mentioned what happened to the people with the bags. did they run off? were they injured in the small explosions? were they rushed and tackled by the other passengers? (this is the one i'm hoping for) this is the only thing i'm wondering, and no one on the news seems to be even asking these questions.

Two arrests so far. Very good and Londoners chasing the bastards is great. We'll get the cu%ts no problem.

I'm just a little annoyed that they aren't doing a proper job on these bastards.

I think the future policy should be to catch these gits and if they are being naughty, make them wear clothes made from cheap bacon. They wont get into paradise if they're stinking of pork.

Bury them in pork fat.

i wonder if that would have any effect. i don't know anything about islam, but if that sort of thing could keep someone from getting into his or her heaven, it might be worth a shot.
i don't know much about suicide bombers either, but if they think that blowing up themselves and a bunch of other people as well will put them on the fast-track to paradise, would they reconsider if they thought they would be kept out of their paradise by means of being buried in pork fat?
