Cornell's solo album was one of the best albums ever in my books. |
Couldn't disagree more. One of the worst musical purchases of my life. I guess it just goes to show - different strokes...
Now Audioslave, on the other hand, stands out as one of the better R&R albums to appear in a while. Nothing earth-shattering, just good ol'-fashioned R&R. Love it. |
Just got it yesterday. I haven't taken the time to listen to all of it yet, but I like the little bit that I've heard. |

Thank sweet Lord Jaysus! If anyone mistakes my user name for the boy-band while the 'bros are right there in the avatar, well, God help him/her. |
Well dude....your avatar is tiny (too tiny to see well) and there are 3 brothers in both....if you want clarity, start there. |

Do yourself a huge favour and rent 'Slapshot'. Paul Newman's in it. There are 3 Hanson brothers in the movie who all look alike. I was lucky enough to kinda look like them in Uni, and I got the nickname 'Hanson' and it stuck.
And by the way - the kids in Hanson (the band) are blond! Or so I'm told. |

Maybe my new avatar can shed some light on this matter... |

David Letterman still on a day late of AFKN?
Thursday June 23:
Tom Cruise with musical guest BEN FOLDS.
He performs "Landed" with a string septet backing him. |

Call me crazy, but I suspect the album's title has something to do with the fact that the album STILL isn't being sold in Korea.
Anyone have any info on this? Purple Record in Hongdae finally has the album listed on their website, but there's a message saying "currently this album is not in stock, nor available for purchase," which is strange, because you can usually pre-order upcoming releases.

Yeah, this totally sucks.....I've been trying to fool myself into thinking that it'll pop up in Jeonju...I went to one of the "music shops" in town the other day and asked the gentleman, "Do you have the new White Stripes?" a few times (in Korean of course).....I just got a confused yet hopeful "Way-suh-tuh-lie-puh?"...strange as they have some of them new-fangled type bands like Kaiser Chiefs and others, what gives? I though Satan had a lock on these types of distribution deals... |

Sure [Ben Folds's 'Songs For Silverman] had high notes and low ones, but the first 5 songs are very strong and Landed and Jesusland make up for the weak points IMO. |
You know, a strange thing happened. I put 'Songs For Silverman' in the CD player last night, and it started to grow on me. It had previously grown on me a little, but last night it was like I finally got it (which is strange for a Ben Folds album; I usually like them right away). The only other album I can recall hating upon first listen and then realizing its sublimeness upon further listenings is The Pharcyde's 'A Bizarre Ride II..'
I am humbled in retrospect by my original review of the album. I still believe that Folds should have compiled his 3 independently-released CDs into one studio album (because the songs on them are some of the best he's ever done), and that the Silverman mix of 'Judy' is absolutely atrocious compared to the beauty of its original version...but 'Songs For Silverman' is now, for me, a worthy addition to the Folds catalogue.

So I've been streaming the new White Stripes album, and it ROCKS!! Pretty different from the others, while maintaining the same raw feel...anybody else heard it? Sure destroys Coldplay...."How old are you...anyway?" ROCK |
Ya, the new Coldplay cd is the only new music I've purchased instead of pirating since being in Korea. It's weak. Shouldn't have wasted my money. |

I bought the CD today, and while I haven't yet had time to listen to it, I thought this bit from the liner notes was a little odd:
"get behind me satan was performed by the white stripes which are meg and jack white respectively"
What the hell does that mean?
Also interesting: the CD is distributed in Korea by YBM Seoul (which owns Sisa, ELS, ECC, etc.).
