Found here:

http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=31634

Background

User posts a news item about Newfoundland, pretty much Canada's poorest province, getting a bum deal on oil off its shore.

What I still find funny

Hank Scorpio replies, in the mode of a pimp trying to woo a new girl:

Quote:
This is when we pounce!

Hey, baby, I know Canada done you wrong, but Uncle Sam is gonna make it all right. Slide on over here and we can get busy. I've got most favored nation status for your fine, independent self. What's that? A free trade agreement? Nothing's too good for my baby.

Hey, you got your sister Alberta's number? Why? No, no reason baby, just curious.

So funny you'd think he was part Canadian!

Yeah, Hank has said some of the funniest stuff here; I think due to differences in political outlook a lot of humour gets overlooked and in general in this board a lot of stuff written sarcastically is taken at face value (latest: Periwinkle - Red Dog).

I still get a good laugh out of that post from CustomX (I think) who was from Seattle and he wanted to know if he could get more money just because he was better-than-average looking...

Man, that post made my week and I still get a good chuckle out of it when I think back.

KPRROK

PS...Just did a search for it for the link and he deleted the original post. Bummer.

Yes! I remember that one too. That's another great one, albeit for unintentional humor. His notion was the mothers would take one look at him and go "wow, hot Chinese guy... I want him teaching my kids American English!"

Someone took a look what other posts he had made and they were all about where to ride your skateboard in Korea.

When people called him your basic idiot, he mounted two lines of defense:

1) He didn't want to come to Korea JUST to ride his skateboard and make Korean mothers swoon and collect a fat pay packet hagwon owners would be throwing at him because he was a good looking Asian man. No no no. He had embarked on a program to eat a lot of Korean food in Seattle to make himself familiar with Korean ways.

2) As proof he wasn't an idiot, he was accepted by the Navy to become an F18 pilot but his admission was deferred because they don't quite need so many F18 pilots right now. So, our future F18 pilot, ostensibly a University of Washington engineering graduate, set upon the short term goal to teach in a haggie.

You know. Maybe.

I once said that MS's Server 2000 was more popular than Linux server software.

Embarassed

Perhaps that's too geeky to be funny, but hey....

The one correcting DW's views on religion by saying Peter (in the Bible) was a rock -- literally. (And DW didn't get it.)

One dude posted a mock-up of what a menu at a restaurant in the U.S. would look like if it were based on Korean menus that was quite funny.

C-R-E-E-P-Y with a capital 'K'.
'Alltherightmoves'?
A legend in his own mind perhaps.
But I can see why it made this thread!
