The city of Toronto has banned Miss Universe(Canadian Natalie Glebova) from opening a festival because, according to a city bylaw, "activities which degrade men or women through sexual stereotyping, or exploit the bodies of men, women, boys or girls solely for the purpose of attracting attention," are prohibited at Nathan Phillips Square.

Not too many other places in the world has political correctness subverted common sense. Of course the gay pride parade does not violate any of these same guide lines. I've got no problem with the parade but the dancing boys on the floats are pretty much flaming sexual stereotypes.

Does that mean porn will be outlawed too?

If so, I've no reason to go back.

Very Happy

I think it's just the one place.

Toronto was the city which tried to stop Madonna from doing her act on stage during her world tour.

Dozens of countries, over a hundred cities, and Toronto was the place which takes issue with the lewdness of her performance.

Toronto is prudish,

whether one is talking abou leftish PC or rightish conservatism.

It's the longstanding historical character of the city.

Its weird right?

Any kind of interest/attraction from a white man towards a woman is considered immoral, sleazy, and every other negative adjective there is..

But a gay man (or a minority rapper or otherwise) can say the lewdist more sexual stuff you can possibly imagine.. and its considered cool, sexy, attractive, or whatever else.

Hmm, so only white men are attracted to the multi-ethnic women in a beauty pagent? Sorry Tiger, not everything in the world is for or about white men. And I am sure you know this, and your response is simply a kneejerk response to supposed PC behavior. By the way, a lot of the prudishness at large today is coming from the white men in power who are quite conservative, not from lefty feminists.

Tiger, be careful, you've caught the attention of a lefty while feminist who feels the need to project her own personal insecurities on the rest of the world.

Watch. Her stereotypical response will be to point a finger at me and find fault, thus ignoring her own problems.

Tiger doesn't have to watch out for me- we get on just fine thank you. Your own insecurities, on the other hand, are well known in these parts, and have even aided in coining a new verb in your honor. And I don't mean being "gollummed".

Speaking of stereotypes. Cool

You're the one who had a hissy fit when I simply changed your avatar.

Talk about insecurity. It would have been more fun to change the goofy-looking avatar of your daughter.

Actually, I just saw a woman doing exactly this on the subway 2 days ago.

It's an odd town in many ways. The Miss Universe thing was just some kind of city hall screw-up that even the mayor thought was dumb.

And yet not long ago, I stepped outside and into a pro-weed march - about 200 people smoking up, walking and chanting. They had a permit and everything, with police closing off the streets.

And don't even get me started about pride week and what happens on Church street in full view of whoever is out for a stroll.

Yet at the same time, open a beer on the street and the cops will be on you pretty fast.
