|
|
i needed to extend my visa and traveled 2 hours to immi and was told when I got there that they would not help me on a Saturday, that they were only open for certificates. Unbelievable..over the years i always went on saturdaymornings. They were always open a half-day as some ppl have to work during the week. What a BIG waste of time. I felt stupid for that waste of time-I should always check before going to any korean agency |

This had better not affect people here on business or foreign investor visas. For if it does, by God, heads will roll!
Actually, this was the topic of another recent thread. One of the key questions is, Will Korean bosses care when their foreign employees have no choice but to take time off from work in order to obey the (visa) laws of the Republic?
Frankly, I see one hand Korean hand (employers) not knowing what the other Korean hand (Immigration) is doing. Or even caring much. Then, when it comes time for a foreigner to do what a foreigner's got to do, Korean bosses just won't care about the Immigration's new schedule, or will react as though this is the foreigner's fault. It ain't gonna be pretty. Making a bad situation worse.
I personally gave up Saturdays for dead back when banks stopped opening on that day. The bank, the post office, government agencies, immigration when necessary, shopping for the week ahead -- my Saturday mornings used to be a flurry of errand-running activity. These days it's a down day. Like this morning, all I did was transplant a few things and mow the lawn. Gads, it's muggy out there. I was dripping with sweat in the short time it took to oil the blades and micro-adjust the cutter bar. As boring a chore as that is, it's a step that simply cannot be skipped when you're using a push-mower. And especially in this climate, you don't want to be going over an area more than once just to be sure you get those tall-standing spears that a mower with an improperly adjusted cutter-bar tends to miss. But it's all worth it, nearly, just for that scent of freshly mown grass. Yes, it nearly is. *inhale* ahhhh.... Saturdays.... |

don't worry about me spelling you with a "u". i'm surely not gonna care what U or others think if i'm too lazy to fix my spelling or make some mistakes. man, i get sick and tired of all these people CARING about someone eles's spelling on forums. yeah i COULD type it PERFECT, but IF i don't want to, it shouldn't matter. U still should be able to understand it! you can read it can't U ?? if U can't, than U can't be much of a native speaker! i suppose U never make a mistake, so high and mighty kindergarten/elementary teacher |

It's the heat, people. Move along, nothing to see here.
Sucks to hear you wasted a Saturday morning, MASH. Especially considering I know it takes you about 2 hours just to get out there by subway, and another 2 to get home. What a waste!
There was a thread about this a while back. I'm surprised you didn't see it. |

heheheheh
Yes, it is the heat. And the sweat. But there was work to be done. Like help select the tile colour scheme for the entryway of a couple who keep changing their minds. After weeks to consider, days to look at magazines and catalogues, and hours visiting the tile shops, they had it narrowed down to these eight finalists for the "natural stone" part of the pattern (a solid ivory for the border):
And then I suffered a nervous breakdown, prompting them to hurry up and decide on this one:
.... or maybe this other one, though it's currently out of stock at the warehouse in Seoul, so they're calling down to the big stockyard in bloody Uiwang, Gyeonggi-do to see if they've any left, the answer we expect on Monday.
I didn't really want to leave the tile shop. They blast the A/C in their gallery (used to be the "showroom", now it's the "gallery" which allows them to raise the prices on cheap Chinese imports 25% and people won't complain ).
The weather truly was unforgiving today, and we were wringing sweat from our towels constantly. The worst job had to be this guy's. Welding steel handrails in the sun all day:
Someone wants a wooden deck, then by God, they get a wooden deck. Even if we all die of heat exhaustion, dammit!
I thought wrongly that working indoors wouldn't be so bad, and we were determined to finish installing the cloth-tile decorative section on this wall. Half naked with determination, in fact:
But it wasn't just us. Even the animals walked about buck nekkid today, it was that hot:
Though I think these people are overdressed for the weather. Waaayyy overdressed:

Ha. I'm not a spelling nazi but there's something about that 'u' that I just don't like. I've had a notice up on my Cyworld telling people to stop using 'u' for a month or two now. |

I agree with Mith. And "u" is only cool when Prince uses it, as in one of my favorite all-time Prince songs "I would die 4 u."
And this dude ain't no Prince... |

Why don't one of you fellow purist, traditionalist, fundamentalists run for public office? You've got my full backing and support. The Spelling & National Socialism Party -- "Spelling Nazis" for short. But of course we'll never refer to ourselves as such. |

I would rather be a Spelling Communist than a Spelling Nazi. We're more interested in orthodoxy. The Spelling Nazis are too compromised by the rantings found in Mein Kampf, they tend to babble sometimes, and it's annoying... |
