Why didn't they just walk thru the woods? There are something like 40 US border patrol agents watching a couple thousand miles of border, and no "love fence" as with Mexico. The chances of being caught sneaking across the border are ZERO. But start a major construction project? Real smart. |

Ha! Who knows how long this tunnel has been there, possibly since the construction of the buildings that disguise it. Kudos for the agent who found it. Subsequently, millions of dollars of dope have passed through that tunnel. |

"We saw lumber going in and soil coming out. Combined with the location of the building and its proximity to the border, it wasn't difficult to come to the conclusion that likely a tunnel was being constructed," said Kim Scoville, director of Canada's Border Services Agency.

File this one under 'criminals so dumb, they deserved to be caught'. |

Those nefarious Canadians. A bunch of pot-smoking scofflaws. For shame. And I've been told they're are a peaceful, law-abiding group of people. Guess I was misinformed. |

Indeed. Then why does the article say:
CNN wrote: |
"The DEA said the newly completed tunnel is the first discovered on the northern border. Several tunnels have been discovered along the Mexico border.
The 360-foot tunnel runs from under a Quonset hut on the Canadian side of the border to the living room of a house in Lynden, Washington, authorities said. The town is about 90 miles north of Seattle.
After they were tipped about the tunnel while it was under construction early this year, U.S. and Canadian agents jointly monitored the project until it was completed in early July.
"We saw lumber going in and soil coming out. Combined with the location of the building and its proximity to the border, it wasn't difficult to come to the conclusion that likely a tunnel was being constructed," said Kim Scoville, director of Canada's Border Services Agency.
Armed with a delayed notification search warrant, agents entered the U.S. house and planted eavesdropping devices and cameras to watch the concluding months of the tunnel project." |
If any dope did pass through it, I suspect that it was only just enough to get a bust. |

That's a few miles from my sister's house.
Don't see what they need a tunnel for. My parents' friends are proud parents of a son who was arrested for drugs smuggling. For months he was making a killing bringing pot south and smuggling guns north. He was just walking across the border at night. Mind you he's sitting in a Washington State Pen now.
Maybe if the US finds an effective way to stop their guns getting to Canada we could agree to start giving a damn about our pot. |

I just have to say it...
Look at what can be accomplished when the lower classes of Canada and the US put their minds together. |

You may just get your wish. The Minutemen, who are armed, are planning to start policing the northern border. It will only be a matter of time before they shoot pot-smuggling smugglers smuggling guns north. |
