By invading Muslim countries (maybe Iran in next) recruitment becomes that much easier for AQ.

the US is not going to invade Iran.

But here is my counterpoint anyway.

The security services of mideast regimes can defeat Al Qaida in their own nations.

If mideast nations feel that their existance is threatened they can crush Al Qaida.

Musharraf is becoming highly unpopular in Pakistan by clamping down on extremism. His country is also the supposed hideout of Osama bin Laden. Can you honestly see him handing such a leading symbol of Islam over to the U.S, under any circumstances? no, neither can I.

I was thinking about Saudi Arabia , Syria and the others .

Pakistan is a little different case.

Watch how Egypt wipes out the Al Qadia supporters in its country - now that they have decided to target foreign tourists and Egypt's economy. .

Remember how Egypt crushed Egyptian Islamic Jihad in the 90's? Get ready for the replay.

Egypt won't sweat it.

Just remember Egypt is one of the more tolerant states and liberal in the region. Compared to nations like Libya or Syria, or Saudi Arabia Egypt is a softy

Egypt also has the added benefit of not having to wait for translators when important documents come in. Time is always crucial.

A very, very good point. Joo, Peter Goss said that he knows where Osama Bin Laden is. So? Why not take him out? It seems like he's trying to tell us that there are problems in the alliance.

and if you want to charge the US with the deaths of those killed by the insurgents then the US ought to get credit for all the lives that were saved by containing Saddam and then taking Saddam down

Remember Saddam would have done worse if he had gone free. and lets remember is sons where coming up next.

This is kinda bizarre: he was going to kill 'em, so it's OK we are. Frightening. Fact is, the invasion of Iraq had no moral nor legal foundation. Fact is, tens of thousands of innocent people are dying - and that's only the directly injured/killed, not to mention those dying from lack - based on lies. Fact is, regardless of whether we stay or not, Iraq is ending up with a governement based in religion, not law. Fact is, the situation is actually getting worse, deaths mounting faster.

Their fundamental belief system is different. Bush doesn't get that.

So... why stay? Less will die and the result will be the same. I just love that in response to the deaths of about 2000 americans, we have killed 2000 more of our own by pur idiocy and killed tens of thousands of Iraqis.

Amazing.
