I couldn't come up with much by doing a search. Both are teaching visas:

I came across a couple of other sites with similar info. I'm sure someone else will come by and correct me or hopefully add some more info, but I think the E-1 is mainly a requirement of certain universitites. Having the E-1 gives you the title of "professor" while the E-2 is just "teacher." A lot of these places either want to keep their standing in the uni ranks or want to improve it, so they have a policy whereby they only hire individuals with a master's degree and, I believe, this is a requirement of the Ministry of Education. It also may have something to do with whether the institution is a public, private, or national school. I don't think there's much of a difference between having the two other than you will not get the E-1 one unless you have a valid master's degree. |
