i'm serious, if one more korean tells me that korea society is so much faster than western society, i think i may very well puke on them. anyway, i was thinking about it this morning, as i was stuck the VERY slow moving morning transfer from the green line to the brown line. i spend an amazing amount of time trying to get around large masses of slow moving koreans. if they're so bballi bbali then why am i faster? it's not only me, i know tons of people who have the same problem.

Maybe you should try driving. You will definitely notice the difference!

Of course large groups in small, confied spaces will be slower than individual people would be. That's a given. Individually, they do seem to be faster than most Western people that I know.

I went from New York City to Seoul (and back), and when I got to Seoul I felt like I was tripping over these people moving at (what seemed to me) a glacial pace. My Korean friends had all told me to expect everything to move fast in Seoul, but it really didn't. It just seems like Koreans are moving fast because they're not looking where they're going so they're constantly bumping into each other.

Only reason Koreans are in a hurry is because they like to sleep so much so they are always late to wherever they are going.

Maybe mass transport is an excuse to be late in a society that expects everyone to be in a hurry?

You must be on a different planet to the one I know.

Anyway, I had the same complaint as the OP on the subway for ages - everyone shuffles along forcing me to slow down, and even when you're on the stairs and see a train waiting at the platform no one in front of you seems to feel any need to hurry. But it's a different story during morning rush hour: from 7 to 8:30 ish people suddenly go faster than I would normally and actually run down the stairs.

Wow..some people really need to lift their heads up and look around... Laughing Laughing

You do realize you are debating the speed that Koreans move at and being aggravated by something you have zero control over?

Good lord... Laughing Laughing Laughing

What next?

Complaining about population density and crowds?

well, if koreans wouldn't constantly brag about how fast they are, then i wouldn't have to point it out.

Same difference paperbag...your getting aggravated (or appear to be) about something you have zero control over.

Also, I have not met very many Koreans who brag they are fast....but thats just me.

It's because they all try to move so fast, and end up slowing other people down.

Koreans: the fastest slow people I know.

I say it's the crappy shoes. If I wore some of the shoes that (especially) Korean girls wore, I would walk slowly, too. I have a really ill-fitting pair of shoes, and I swear they are going to saw -off my baby toe if I wear them for an extended length of time. They are crippling.
