Why's that ? ... a C4 is totally legit for summer employment as far as I know.
I sent in a signed copy of my contract with when I applied so unless you know something I don't, I reckon it should be ok. . |

Yeah.... hope you're not teaching on that C-4. |
I could be wrong, but I also thought the C-4 was the legal visa to teach a camp, if you have no other visa. |

Yeah a C-4 is the one for people flying over here specifically for the camp. For others already here on an E-2 then a C-4 is not possible to get, so that's why you get an addition to your E-2.
Thanks I appreciate everyone's advice. It pisses me off that I couldn't get approval because I did try to do everything by the book. The rules are so strict it's unbelievable. Basically although the camp is being held a a training center which is licenced and recognize, the fact that the high school is sponsering it is NOT recognized as they aren't the permanent ones who use that place, or some such garbage the guy tried to explain. Ah screw it..... |

Could you have the organization that runs the camp get you the visa? That would seem a simple and logical end run round the rules. |

Right, so will immigration let you do the add a workplace thing and allow the othe organization apply for your camp visa? |

| No it's impossible. They won't issue the visa period. The place isn't a qualified place and there is no way around it. |

Well all ended well. Sure it was a big risk but I just didn't have the heart to not go to the camp as they couldn't find another teacher on such short notice.
The kids were great and we had a great time. Sure I was a little nervous thinking immigration could have come at any moment but all ended well with nobody in sight.
I am NOT saying that this was a good idea at all, it wasn't but I rolled the dice and got lucky. I highly suggest for anyone else to make sure all the paperwork is in order and that you are given permission. Hope everyone elses camp went well. |
