No matter where I pick up the phone in Korea (the ones that use cards, not change) it has the same scent - a slightly sweet smell with a very slight metallic tinge. I wonder what chemical that is? I've never found that smell anywhere else. Confused

i didn't have a cell phone for a while and had to use a lot of pay phones. they started spraying the phones with disinfectant right after SARS. the smell is really gross and strong. there were times when my eyes would water and i became nauseated.

I've used many phones here and have noticed nothing so you must be a liar.

Spraying disinfectant in public and worksite phones predated the SARS scare by many years. They may have just been more conscientious and possibly used a different and stronger-smelling solution after 2003.

It's because taobenli started a thread about a weird scent in her goshiwon, and I'm pretty sure it's the same one.
