Ah..sorry branch water is basically any water that is not fizzy. Southern expression I think.

When I hear someone calling me a "yankee" my first assumption is that they are calling me some New York crazed baseball fan....and I don't give one friggin' rat's a** about baseball.

Wouldn't that just be 'water'? Confused (Sarcasm not really intended... more like irony)

And thanks for the reply Smile

Dear Cecil:

I watch Dallas like some people go to church. J.R. is my favorite villain. He drinks "branch water," though, and for the life of me I can't find out what "branch water" is. Bartenders look at me like I'm nuts when I ask for it. Liquor stores don't have any idea what J.R.'s favorite drink is either. What is "branch water" and where can I get some? --Pat Locastro, Jacksonville, Florida

Cecil replies:

You're looking in the wrong place, bro. Get your nose out of the saloons and find yourself a babbling brook. Branch water is nothing more than water from a stream (often called a branch in the South) rather than a well. I gather such water is highly prized in some parts. Of course, you also hear people ask for a "bourbon and branch," meaning whiskey and plain water rather than soda water. So what J.R. is really supposed to be sipping is anybody's guess.

As mentioned before from a brook or stream. Now just means anything that isn't fizzy. Usually spring water.

Mint Juleps are a fine drink ...cool refreshing and knock you on your butt. In the old days one of the few drinks that women could drink without being perceived as well you know...welll ....yes...fast....(insert gasp).

...is moving away to someplace nicer. The whole Southern half of the state is all roads, strip malls, or islands of exclusive suburban enclaves. The nothern half of the state is owned by said suburban enclaves who are busy bulldozing all the nice places working/middle-class people used to have for camping, forests to walk in, and public fishing places unlittered by ugly condos.

Cor, I feel crabby today...maybe I need more of opiates my doctor gave me for my surgery.
