We need a song as well... To be honest, I don't think anyone really cares. It's all about saving face on both sides of the fence. Denmark put a ship over there a year back and now our Foreign Minister is stepping foot on there to let them know that it's not solely theirs. I can also see it being a trip in the case that interntional law was needed.
Either way... It will never get to the level of hillarity that has happened with Dokdo and that is too bad. I would like to see our own "Hans Island is ours!!" banners draped all across small town Canada. |

I still think my rock-scissors-paper solution is the most elegant.
Best of 7, Denmark, and the loser pays the winner's bar tab. |

Nah, it's the only one of the three that got any responses; you can tell people are very passionate and outspoken about the whole issue... |

Oh Lord! I hope not. I wouldn't wanna have any part of that kind of stupidity. Next thing you know people will be lopping off fingers. Hmm...been done. How about slicing off ears? Your land? Sorry. I can't hear you. I just lopped off my ears. Talk to the hand. |

Do you think this song can be adapted for that purpose?
I hope my translation is at least approximately right:
Lonely island, faraway from me, in the East Sea,
Today a violent wind blows.
With a tiny face I confront the wind.
Dokdo, last night I slept well.
Of course, Dokdo has two syllables and Hans has only one,
so that is one adaptation which will have to be made. |

What do you mean Hans has only one syllable? Can't you hear it? ѽ? There are obviously 2! |

In an armed clash between Denmark and Canada, who is your money on? Would Quebec surrender? Would Iceland be sucked in? Can the Norwegians be counted on to stay neutral? With the Danes in an aggressive mood, would they risk a two front war and take on Germany to get back Schleswig-Holstein? On the other hand, there are some pretty belligerent Canadians around.
Enquiring minds want to know. |

Canada definitely. With the recent influx of well-armed American political dissidents, and a resident moose population, they should be able to wipe out the moody philosopher kings of northern Europe. Quebec would not surrounder but would give the Danes classified intelligence whilest remaining part of the "Coalition of the Chilling." |

Fubar, here is another nomination.
I think this song is better known.
And here is my translation--to the best of my ability:
There is a threat 80 kilometers out on the southeast side.
One lonely island is home for the birds.
We all insist that it is our land,
Dokdo is our land. Our land!
In the thirteenth year of the reign of Jijung, it was the island nation of Usan.
Sejong mentioned it in the fifty copies of the Tripitaka.
Hawaii is the United States' land, Tsushima is Japan's land,
Dokdo is our land. Our land!
Tsushima, or 븶, happens to be another island which is contested between Korea and Japan.
In another version of the song, it says "Tsushima is I-don't-know-whose land."

Wow, you learn something new every day- I had always thought (assumed I guess) that Tsushima was just the Japanese name for Dok-do... |
