Police to Cage Resistant Jewish Settlers
ABC | July 28 2005

Israeli police plan to cage Jewish settlers who forcibly resist next month's pull-out from the Gaza Strip.

Opponents of the evacuation are planning another mass rally in an effort to stop the withdrawal.

Israeli police have been practising using large wooden cages to remove Jewish settlers who could position themselves on the roofs of their houses.

The security forces plan to use cranes to lower the cages into position before forcibly removing any settler who resists.

Police used cages 23 years ago during the evacuation of the Yamit settlement in the Sinai, when Israel handed the territory back to Egypt.

Settler leaders planning a new rally say they expect tens of thousands of protesters to try to march into the main settlement bloc in the Gaza Strip in an effort to stop the evacuation.

Every time Israel hands over hard won territory or makes concessions, it is quickly forgotten in the clamour demanding that they give ever more.

The settlers in the Gaza strip are illegal settlers. Israel as part of the peace protest has agreed to remove them, some of the hardliners are resisting. Remove them and let the process go on. I have no sympathy for them, if they're caged temporarily in the process. I'm sure they'll be treated a lot more sympathetically bu the Israeli police than many other people are.

Israel's Next War ???

They do not believe in peace talks. They do not want to share the land. They are well armed and are carrying out increasingly violent attacks, even targeting innocent civilians. They are members of Israel's militant far right, and they are threatening to become Israel's next big problem.

Yep a lot of Israeli people are very moderate considering the stress that nutter suicide bombers must cause. It's a shame indeed that the hardline right in Israel dont want this to happen.

Stupid buggers I say. Compromise is important, as long as demands from both sides are reasonable. Some nutters on both sides don't know where to stop the nonsense.

Those idiots are probably career 'rabble rousers' on both sides, when the battle is over they'll have nothing to do but get a job cleaning the streets or something.
