You know, I know Americans run over Korean schoolgirls 'n' stuff but would it kill Koreans to actually admit America, and America alone, landed on the moon? I found this display at the science center in Seoul...

We Canadians generally have a knee jerk reaction to all things American and are pretty certain we're the culturally superior people on the North American continent and Alberta beef is better than Texas beef and it's a damn pity American can't buy Red Rose tea (although they can) ... but our science centers at least don't go sticking the Canadian flag on the moon...

You should have heard how the Chileans denigrated and minimized the Mars landing...but at least I never saw any museum display like that in Santiago.

That diorama reminds of a lot of Korean restaurant menus I've come across; The menu doesn't reflect what the restaurant actually offers but rather what the restuarant would like to offer in a perfect world.

And so the science centre isn't displaying what happened but rather their opinion of what should have happened.

Is that disturbing? Yup, I'd say it's on a par with teaching creationism in a high school science class.

Some people's heads are totally *beep* ed up by religion while for others it's nationalism that destroys rational thought.

Please tell me that is a third grader's work being shown off at this so called Science Center.

That kid with downs from that other thread could have done a better job.

There does come a point where we just have to decide whether we're going to have faith in something.

I don't believe that the lunar landing was a conspiracy.

But I do believe that...

(a) Milli Vanilli lip-synched "Blame It on the Rain"; and

(b) the Koreans did not land on the moon.

mmt you sound so, uhmm, rigid
i liked most of your posts and i can see what you're pointing though.
yeah, misguided nationalism sucks.
but are you sure this poor diorama suggest the idea to people?

well, Koreans can dream of space trip. nothing wrong with it.

does that gray panel really means the moon? i don't think they are trying to circulate such delusional story by displaying this tiny little cheap diorama with false description to steal great achievement of the states.

Here's a picture of me at the Eiffel Tower in 1940 with the German High Commmand. I'm on the left.

What?

It's only a diorama with false description.

Just wondering: Was there a sign anywhere around the diorama that said something like: 'Someday!' or 'This could be you!'

Just wondering : if they have another diorama that shows a submarine residence and some Korean looking figures are put in it, are they such a big liar? well, we all know the fact Koreans have never ever built something like that.

Sangja, you sound like Christian Boltanski.

You gotta a wicket sense of humor, Bulsajo. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Whether they would like to admit it or not, the world envies the U.S.. They see their own incompetence when looking west, except of course us the Canadians because deep down we know that our two countries are the same in so many ways. We have always been brothers and shall always remain.

Canada shall always be the right arm on the American shuttle. (Yes, yes, it's a bit cheesy.)
