I wonder if they still exist also. Run by a (you guessed it) Mr. and Mrs. Kim. If anyone has their contact info. I'll pay you in beer when I get to Korea.

Like has 14+ schools throughout Daegu, all family owned and operated. They've been in business for over 30 years and have a lot of experience in dealing with foreign teachers. I worked there for my first year in Korea and lucked out with them, as they looked after me. And I know a bunch of other friends who I remain in contact with, who I worked with and can say the same. The contract isn't as jaw-dropping fantastic as others. Pay is around 1.9/mnth and I believe they still require Saturday work, however that was often for only 3-4 hours sometimes. The Monday-Friday shifts were like 4-8 or 4-9 for most people. The downtown location is the biggest and has dorm accommodation that housed 9-10 teachers in their own private apartments. If you are going to work there and have no prior social contact in Korea, I'd ask to live in the dorms. Instant social network and they often have rooftop BBQs and parties. The downtown location and dorms are 2 blocks away from the Daegu nightlife, as well as subway line.

As with most Korean employers, if you are straight-up and fair with them, they will be fair with you. If you are a confrontational shit disturber, you'll have a tough time anywhere.
If you are looking for something solid, with regular and reliable pay and benefits, with no unpleasant surprises, then it makes for a great 1st year contract, as I had no regrets.
