There are a bunch of people here trying to help me out (SH, Hyp, and KoK being the most recent), Thank you and I'll try all of your suggestions and update you all after the weekend. The more i read the article posted by dbee, the more I want to shake my IE reliance.

Unfortunately that's not an option.

Actually, with the latest edition of Opera, my gmail account does work...Personally, I like Opera better than Firefox. It seems to load a bit quicker, and it seems to have a few more options.

I downloaded the latest FF and set the pipelining to false and that seems to have cleared up my problem, although I swear I'd messed around with the pipelining before and it didn't make a difference. Anyway thanks all esp Hypnotist who brought up the pipelining.

edit: DAMN! All the quote buttons here are now winking smilies, so the problem persists... on to the next suggested solution. uninstall.

Shame. I've been running with pipelining off for a few days now and it cleared up all the problems I'd been having.

Ah well - sounds like it's not worth the trouble.

FF 1.06 is excellent.
There were several sites where I had to use to IE, for example inputting the grades on my university's server, but 1.06 has fixed all of that.
Other times, in cases where Java applets were running 1.05 gave me trouble, but the new version is just perfect.

Free, non-invasive, soooo convenient, why use anything else?
