I smoke a lot now. I have quit several times over the years, for months or more in the past. Not smoking at first means not drinking either, at least for me, at least for 2 or 3 weeks. But if you hang around with smokers, or go to a bar, the temptation to bum one or more will be there, and it's so easy to then buy some and fall back into the nasty habit. |

Damn right I'll not quite smoking! I don't use my lungs anyway. And what's to smell? Car exhaust? |

I quit smoking in Korea - I didn't believe it would be possible - but it was. The hardest part came when I had a beer in one hand and no cig in the other. Hang in there. It takes 21 days to create a habit, so I hope you're sticking with your new habit of not smoking! |

I had my last cigarette at 8:30 last night. I'm halfway through day 1 as a non-smoker, cold turkey. It's not easy, but I want to take advantage of the 3 day weekend. I know I'd be grouchy to my students if I tried quitting during the week.
I picked up this pack of fake cigarettes at the Ministop this morning. They're called "NosmoQ." The pack says "TOBACCO FREE & NICOTINE FREE," and after a little Internet research I confirmed this to be true. They don't smell or taste so great, but smoking one DOES take care of the craving for a few hours. Has anyone else tried these? |

I did use NoSmoq when i tried to quit a few years ago...all they did was make me very ill!
Don't even bother with them. Chew gum, or suck on a lollipop. |

Yeah, I'm so through with those Nosmoq-ers. I finished the pack on Monday morning; the smell was making me a little ill too. Maybe that's part of their "program" though. Now I'm slowly going through a tin of ginseng candy one of my students gave me.
I'm on my 4th day now and I'm feeling pretty good. The weird mental fog/lack of concentration is gone now. I feel like I've got more energy than I ever did when I was smoking. Still some cravings, but it's easier to get through them now that I know they're mostly psychological at this point.
That whyquit.com site has helped me a lot. I like its cold turkey philosophy. Also, it's the only smoking cessation website I've found that doesn't try to sell you expensive nicotine patches or gum. |

Yeah, I just need to invest in something for when I drink. I bought a pack this weekend...........however, I did not open it....and after we got back to school today, I gave it away. Its only the drinking that does me in. I don't even think about cigarettes otherwise. Good luck NVRS! I know what you mean about feeling better....for a week after, I felt like I was coming down with a cold...but I think it was just all that sinus crap trying to leave me. I feel really good now. |

Well I just passed the 24 hour point of cold turkey. In my experience 72 or so hours pretty much does it for the physical cravings. I might not sleep well for a few days, but I will sleep better after a few more days.
I think weekends are a good time to quit if you can just stay in your room and crash out and watch tv.... |

Well done Jajude!
I've been going on 3 months now (give or take!)
I'll admit I had one PUFF a few weeks ago, but I was very very very drunk. I did impress myself by giving my own head an upper-cut for having a puff. |

ME
I gave up in Korea almost 12 months ago. It was tough.
As I was getting healthier, I decieded to move to HCMC and swallow as many poisonous gases as I can.
I'm sure I'm better off however. |

I'm at the 1.5 month mark myself. I haven't had a puff since I made that post in August.
I feel good and don't have cravings 90% of the time. Still, it seems certain situations inspire the urge to light up. It's REALLY annoying and I can't wait until I don't think about smoking at all. I also have dreams about smoking, which is really depressing.
I have a feeling that after I leave Korea later this fall and head to Thailand and India for some traveling the cravings will make a comeback. I can already feel myself using twisted logic to justify starting up again..."oh, I quit once; I can definitely quit again..."
I wish I'd never started. |

Had hypnosis originally which work for almost a year. Went again and it only lasted a fraction of that time. Eventually just quit on my own as I was sick and tired of smoking. Cold turkey, no help, no patches, nothing. That was 2 1/2 years ago. Don't miss it now at all. I do however sometimes like catching a whiff of a freshly lit cigarette. |
