I just got a job offer from a school called EFL institute in Daegu... Anyone ever hear of this school?? Also I know nothing about this city.. I was hoping to go to Seoul or Pusan.. Has anyone lived in Daegu and can tell me about their experience living there??
I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks

I've lived in Daegu for nearly 3 years and have found it to be quite good.

A few points to be noted (pro or con; it's up to you!)

~It has a lively nightlife for foreigners with an ever increasing number of choice of bars.

~It's a large city of 2.5 million and has most western conveiniences if that is important to you.

~Located on the main train line and somewhat centrally located which makes for easy travel to other locations eg Busan is 1.25 hours away. Sometimes it's good to get out and see other places.

~Surrounded by mountains. Some nice hiking.

~Has a domestic airport. Connections to Seoul and Jeju Island.

~The weather is reputed to be the most extreme in Korea. The differences between highs and lows. Gets hot here; +38 degrees Celcius in summer and -15 celcius in Winter.

~Has a subway system makes for convienient travel in city.

~Is close to Tourist attractions eg Gyeong-Ju.

I don't know anything about EFL although I have heard of it so can't help you there... Feel free to 'P.M' me if you want anymore specific information.

I like Daegu alot. I don't live there, but I really like visiting there. Its the third largest city in korea, has a nice downtown area, quite a few foreigners, and is centrally located so its easy to get around to other parts of the country.
Honestly, theres not much difference between a city like Daegu and a city like Seoul except that Seoul has 10 million more people. It all looks the same to me.

When I come back from a visit to Seoul it always reminds me how laidback Daegu is... Seoul is rush-rush, push-push, fight for seat on the subway, etc etc...

In Daegu it's like.. where did all the people go?

Thanks for the replies! Daegu sounds like a nice and fun place! I have accepted a position at EFL Foreign Language Institute. I am in the middle of doing all the paperwork. Will be there soon!
