Wasup with the full face visors that I'm starting to see everywhere?
Last weekend we were down at the park. A group of ladies sitting next to us were all wearing those dark tinted full face visors. They were carrying on what sounded like a normal conversation but with visors in the completely down position. The only time they'd lift their visor was to take a quick bite of kim pap.
It was really freaky.
Since then I've started to notice them all over the place completey pulled down to cover their face.
Is it the in thing to do? |

Dude, you are really starting to freak my sh*t out. You some kind of missionary Jesus freak or sumpthin?
Anyway, it's not like I could see their sweet little faces. As I said the visors were locked in the down position.
Also, just got a heads up from one of my co-workers. Turns out those visors can also double as a screen filter when you are doing something on the computer. Pretty nifty! |

| yeah, this can go under the fashion crime page too. I feel really wired and a bit scared when people cover there faces. What are they hiding? I understand protection from the sun. I am almost a vampire after all, but hats and visor that will not allow you to see somebody eys really is an issue with me. sunglasses are OK in sunny weather and out doors, but not in doors as some fashionless Koreans have done. (Wow, I sound bitter) |

I've been doing some thinking...maybe these ajuumas are also some type of elite reserve for the riot police...gosh knows they are tough enough.
I wonder if I wore one of them visors in the down position would people still point and call me a miguk?
Might be worth a try. Even if they figured out I was foreigner I could make all kinds of faces at them and they'd never know.
But then I'd have to drink my beer through a straw. |

You're way of course on this.
Those women are protecting their faces from the sun because they have learned that the sun can cause wrinkles and cancer spots. They are not concerned with how silly they look and more concerned about their health. What the hell is wrong with that!
The older ajummas in Korea deserve a lot of respect! They are very health conscious and very environmentally friendly. Most of them do not use washing machines or dryers or any form of chemicals to clean things. Although they have plenty of money to buy such conveniences they see them as detrimental to health. They don't have hordes of chemicals under their sinks and they cook all of their food from scratch in a relatively healthy method. I don't think we should be attacking old ladies with hats who are the backbone of Korea and if left up to them would have one of the cleanest nations in the world.
Better yet, imagine yourself an old Korean going for a trip in the USA. You see a Denny's and everyone seems to be going there so you give it a try. Your English is not good and no one knows your language. No one! You look at the menu and then you point out what you want. While sitting there you notice more than half the men have their heads shaved and they're all wearing tight baseball caps, and you wonder, "Why do they all have those hats on? That looks strange. Why is everyone here? The food is not very good and the service is terrible! This is not a nice place! people are laughing at me! They are making fun of my hat!"

This is why they make a pot of dwenjang chigae once a week, leave it out every night, eat from it every day, and occasionally add new ingredients so you can't taste the mold.
mmm yummy. And when's the last time you saw an ajuma washing her hands. |

Ajumma doesn't simply wash her hands..she soaps her palms and cleans her man and then diligently takes the outcome to the plants on the balcony to be used as fertilizer.
Edit note: If you are aware of malpractice then bring it forward like you would in your own country, and if you don't have the facility to do so then welcome to the world.
