I came across 4 ironic things so far this year...

1. One of my students came up to me and started complaining about how his English ability hasn't improved in the last 6 months.

~ I had to remind him that when he started taking my class, he couldn't even understand "hello". So I simply reminded him that by taking my class, he gained enough ability to be able to complain about how bad his English is...

2. Me and a friend were playing a game of pool with 2 guys who claimed to be American. Yet after a couple of drinks, one's seemingly east coast accent gave way to a lamish cambridge accent....especially after losing 3 out of 4 games of pool (they won one by default)

3. I saw this big muscle dude the other day wear a pink t-shirt that read;
DON'T MESS WITH THE BEST...

4. Another one of my students said in a previous class, "All american soldiers are brute, uneducated monkeys". Yet she is dating one.

Irony: /irni/
• noun (pl. ironies) 1 the expression of meaning through the use of language which normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous effect. 2 a state of affairs that appears perversely contrary to what one expects.

ORIGIN: Greek eironeia simulated ignorance.

You're a loser mate, why don't you go back to work and use your engrish on them, instead of breaking down someone's post

This is a very week definition of irony. Though irony is pretty hard to define, which makes posting a dictionary definition pretty pointless.

I just found my wedding ring tastes irony. Think it's a fake?

I agree.

I think that Mishlert has a bunch of frustration because he's a huge loser and needs to sit at home and criticize others to make himself feel good.

I don't get this. My Korean friends warn me about eating the crispy bits of kalbi like it's fan death, citing that it'll give me cancer. While they're all smoking heavily. And how does every Korean order their steak anyway? Well-done!!!

Irony means a contradiction of terms.
I mean, to say one thing and do the other.
That's irony Confused
