Good lord almighty, Firstly...Homer, get off my case pal, i couldn't give two stuffs about your or anybody else's current/past financial situation. As it so happens, i do have just enough money to leave should need be. Whats with all the sanctimony?, why do you feel the need to berate me when all i'm asking for is some advice?. I wouldn't change anything i've done in my time here, it's been a ride. That's not to say that i haven't learnt a lesson but anyways how i choose to live my life has absolutely nothing to do with you so butt out.

Zyzyfer, I'll owe you a beer next time i see you at whatever bar i see you at.

"Hope" your boss explains the situation to immi for you. Have you contacted EFL-Law.com about your predicament? They are quick and forthcoming on needed advice(especially the emergency post section. I think your situation qualifies). Best to consult with professionals who are knowledgeable about Korea and legalese pertaining to the peninsula.

Regardless of how "others" may opinionate/preach/moralize/in hindsight spiel etc, this(your situation) should be looked at as a forerunner of what could befall "others" as a result of reinforced procedural changes(the immi. boys have been jabbed up their collective derriers to actually get off their hind-quarters and show results before lunchee).

It is going to be interesting how many ESL teachers are still in Korea once credentials are verified(whilst gainfully employed over time;days, weeks, months). That is soon coming. You have no problem as you have recognized/verifiable credentials(albeit late in arriving contributing to your current detriment).

It is also going to be interesting to see how many ESLers will be compromised once they consider changing jobs at the end of their contracts or, because they may have had to due to "unexpected" circumstances at the H.

The speed it may take unis to supply transcripts(if they refuse; transcripts are lost,etc) , the time-lapse "between" jobs(pushy "reassuring" directors; unspecified waiting, etc) will undoubtedly "influence" a few ESLers to cross the line too.

In addition, being between jobs means finding accom whilst limbo-ised, how many could bear a goshiwon, yogwon, etc for an unspecified time,? Everyday expenses for an unspecified period could also seriously empty the won-piggy, da?

With immi being pushed by an embarrassed govt.(K orea at 198th in the latest international Toeic????) to recover/save face(looking for scapegoats i.e, ESL teachers representing the politically disenfranchized and economically vulnerable), many more ESLers are likely to find themselves in like situations or, as victims of circumstance due to misplaced confidences.

Anyone can be smug when things are working out fine but, this is Korea and one can never be sure when one is about to be surrounded. I've seen people (married with K-wives, uni jobs, and a cat) find themselves between a rock and a hard place once their "safe" job tree was "shaken". It was not pretty.

The next few months are going to be interesting.

Have you noticed that people will post about being busted by immigration and then they never usually say what happened at the end. I think that they are not allowed to talk about it if they stay in Korea. The people kicked out of Korea always talk about it, but the people who are able to stay never mention exactly what happened.

They post the first scared message and then they never come back. I think it is usually not so serious in the end for some people, but they can't talk about it.

One more thing...

Why do they call it immigrations when it is an organization and should not be plural? Only koreans make that mistake again and again.

What up people?, just dropping a line to let you know that i'm back and i'm legit. The one thing i've learnt regarding the korean immigration system is that nothing is a certainty, you never really know whats going to happen when running up against these guys, could be good, could be shite.

ALSO!!!!! Beware of EXTREMELY paranoid people over here regarding immigration laws. On this forum and in person i have met people who have no idea what they are talking about but want to contribute none the less to look good or whatever.
