I'm a Canadian who has a four B.A. I worked in Incheon for a year and now I want to get a job in Jeju Island. I heard that they pay a little less than the mainland. What monthly salary should I ask for. I will work 30hours a week. I'm thinking about 2.2million; is that a little high for Jeju?

Hey Mattman,

I'm not over in Korea yet, but I have also been looking for work on Jeju. I NEGOTIATED 1.9 for myself on one job, but they wanted to give me less. Perhaps with your experience you could ask for more, plus the fact that they don't have to pay your ticket, but they do tend to offer less - I haven't seen anything that offers even 2 million.

Hey,

I believe Canuck is working in Jeju Island as of now. You might want to private message him.

You might consider the EPIK program as Jeju is after EPIK tachers.
If you have the requirements for a level one EPIK position then you would be on 2.2 to 2.3 by September this year.

Take care with where you work on Jeju. Most of the chain hogwons have a poor name on Jeju. The National Universities FLI is usually after teachers but their pay level is quiet low.

Personally I'd rather be on the mainland working down south. You can always catch the ferry to Jeju if you want to visit it.
