who are strange and irritating.

My visa arrived early this morning (Saturday). So I started calling around to all the travel agencies trying to find one that is open on Saturday. Bingo on the 5th one. Told the guy my details and arranged to go down at 1PM.

I get there and he tells me that I can't get a ticket because:
a) Leg one is on United from Des Moines to Chicago
b) KAL is international.

They can't issue me a ticket because I change carriers. Why not? It's the rules. Can you reserve a ticket for me on KAL and I could fly to Chicago and pick it up at the desk? No. You can't reserve a ticket. KAL offices are closed on the weekend. If you'll take the chance of going to Chicago and going to the KAL desk, maybe they'll sell you a ticket. If not, maybe we can arrange a flight on Wednesday.

Does anyone anywhere understand the logic of this? And why would an international airline be closed on the weekend? That's insane.

I take back all the nasty things I've muttered under my breath when dealing with Korean travel agents. It must be an industry thing.

I need a drink.

Ya-ta boy,

Don't know what kind of bad luck you had but I never had a problem booking with KAL.

If you find this too complicated...call a travel agent in Desmoines and get them to book your entire flight......thats their job.

book it online, you get a better airfare and you can change carriers with no problem, In fact the cheapest airfare I got from travelocity was flying America West to San Francisco changing to Singapore Airlines.

A travel agent who says they can't do that in the US needs to be reported to the BBB that is pure BS what they told you.

That Saturday stuff was just a mess. This morning, Monday, I went to another agency and had my ticket in about 15 minutes. I think I stumbled onto an amateur on Saturday.

Anyway, I'm at an airport motel waiting for my 6am flight back to dahk-galbi and soju.
