Stupid FOX News.
Check this out:
Quote: |
A little while ago, at 2:05 PM ET, FOX News Live reported a vicious lie about Cindy Sheehan without bothering to provide the source.
Laurie Dhue introduced the segment by saying snidely that Cindy Sheehan is the "so-called Peace Mom," as if that in itself is something distasteful.
Molly Henneberg reported from Crawford, TX that Sheehan "says America is not worth dying for." Rather than provide a specific source or a clip, Henneberg merely told the audience Sheehan said that "back in April at a rally in San Francisco for a lawyer convicted of providing support to terrorists." Perhaps the reason no clip or source was provided was because Henneberg completely distorted what Sheehan said.
In fact, Iraq was the country Sheehan said was not worth dying for, as this complete quote from a transcript at wikipedia shows:
I'm going all over the country telling moms: "This country is not worth dying for. If we're attacked, we would all go out. We'd all take whatever we had. I'd take my rolling pin and I'd beat the attackers over the head with it. But we were not attacked by Iraq." {applause}
Funny, but Henneberg did show a clip of something else Sheehan said at the same rally: "If he thinks that it's so important for Iraq to have a U.S.-imposed sense of freedom and democracy, then he needs to sign up his two little party-animal girls. They need to go this war. They need to fight."
Why provide the clip on the second but not the first quote, which was the one highlighted by the story? Could it be because it was bogus and FOX News knew it? |

Joo Rhipp Gwa Rhee will be along in about 5 minutes to explain that, despite and the countless instances we could cit exactly like it ... Fox News is, of course "fair and balanced."
It's going to happen, and the rest of us who know better just can't wait to see it happen.
Oh, the thrill. |

Let's pretend it's election time and Dan Rather has a story on the president.
"George Bush claimed last year that 'it's good that they (American soldiers) are being fired upon'. What was all that about?"
Five minutes later it turns out that Bush was talking about insurgents, not American soldiers. No apology is issued.
What would happen? |

[quote]Fox News is not fair and balanced in that it doesn't not have an editoral slant. On the other hand it is fair and balanced in that it gives someone from the other side a chance to speak.
That is more than a lot of left wing media would do. |

I knew it would be thrilling. I was right.
Does anyone ELSE want to to take a stab at defending the obvious lie mith has pointed out from Fox in the OP? |

Again (as I and others have pointed out countless number of times before) what "left wing media" are you talking about? CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, BBC? Name another U.S. news channel that does the same thing that Fox does? We're all waiting.................. |

First there is a ever so slight liberal wing tilt in the US media , I don't think it is a major problem. but there is a slight bias in the US media.
See below for what the NY Times said about itself:
WEEK IN REVIEW
THE PUBLIC EDITOR; Is The New York Times a Liberal Newspaper?

OF course it is... (then there is more article) |

There are several newspapers in the US with a left wing tilt much more serious than the the NY Times (which I don't think is a problem ) , and of course there are puplications like the Natiion , common dreams, alternet.Which are left wing.
And of course after that you get the real hate mongering radical stuff like Counterpunch and infromationclearinghouse.
and most of the European Media is left wing and anti US. |

Turning "we shouldn't die for Iraq" = "we shouldn't die for the US" is the slightest of slight tilts to the right, that's all. An itsy-bitsy shift to the right of centre. |

Joo has not replied with substance to the OP and the lies it contained. He will not.
That was my prediction, and so far it is exactly true. |

OK...CBS, Dan Rather, forged documents about W's time in the Guard. Need I say more? |

Yes and look at the price CBS and Rather paid for that! Do any anchors take heat and does anyone lambast Fox for stretching the truth or outright lying? The answer is no. That was ONE tilted story. Fox does it EVERY DAY.

The fact is that Fox doesn't behave worse than the left wing media , in fact they might even behave better because they usually allow someone from the other side to state their case.
As I said their a lot of left wing media that does the same or worse, and the only reason that most of the posters on this thread are complaining is because Fox's politics don't agree with theirs. They probably wouldn't say a word about left wing media outlets doing the same thing.
The is a lot of anti US media in Europe and in a way Fox makes up for that.
I wonder why actually I dont' the left wingers never said a word about left wing media in Europe.
Interesting those posters who aren't from the US rip Fox news from the US but they could care less about media bias in other nations. |

You said this same thing almost word for word before in the other thread. What effect does the left-wing European media have on American viewers? Are they exposed to it each day? Are they able to access it like they are Fox, CNN, Nbc, Abc, etc.? Your point makes no sense at all............ |

That response was an appropriate answer to that post.
The reason I pointed it out is because it seems that too many on this board have a probelm w/ Fox not because it is often tilted but because of whose side it is on. |

There is no way to defend the blatant lie that mith has shown here that comes from Fox. It is far beyond mere bias, it is mendacity. There is not a shred of truth to it, and it is done with political motivation. NO ONE can call this journalism.
Fox News does not promote itself as a forum for opinion - their name is what they try to pass themselves off as : "News."
And that is dishonest, and the example we have seen here is simply the most blatant and shameless among their crimes to intelligent thought. |
