So I went for my long put off visit to the dentist. I have to get 6 fillings (to add insult to injury 4 of them are my wisdom teeth that have sucessfully grown in). The price I got quoted was between 300-320k per filling for the cheapie fillings. Now it's been a while since I went to the dentist, and this place was uber swanky is this kind of price I should be paying. Seems a little pricey.
Even better anyone know of a cheaper, english speaking dentist that offers reasonable service? |

Wouldn't it be cheaper to get all your wisdom teeth pulled out instead?? |

They don't recommend that. Says that I might need them later. |

OMG... I am so glad I don't live in Seoul.
Here in Daejeon, the Eulji Hospital has English speaker dentists. This old gent I see did his residence in New York or something and speaks impeccable English. He charged my husband only 350,000 for a crown!! Fillings, I am told, start from 50,000 won for a silver metal one, going up for a ceramic one and then a gold one will cost more, obviously..
But 350,000? I think you are being ripped off and better off going to university hospital - may be the international clinic and get a referral.
Just wondering - are those prices after insurance? |

Hmmm......6 multiplied by 300,000 won....for that price you could fly to Bangkok, stay in the Novotel for a week and visit a western dentist there that charges 15 bucks a filling and still come out on top. |

6,000 won for a 'silver', amalgam filling (back teeth)
70.000 for a 'white' enamel filling (front teeth)
you can get your 4 wisdom teeth filled for just 24,000
why do you need english speaking?
in sydney i went to a dentist twice in castle hill to get the same tooth pulled.. dumb bugger worked on it for ages and smashed it to pieces then he then told me i would need surgery...
next day i went to some arab guy in blacktown.. he could barely speak any english at all.. he took an xray, juiced me up with local and after 5 minutes he had my broken, smashed tooth out on the table..
2 points..
1) even thought the 1st dentist was australian, worked in a yuppy clinic in an expensive area and spoke fluent english, he still f'ed up my tooth..
2) the guy who worked in a small, dingey clinic, spoke only poor, broken english, charged 1/2 the price of the other guy and looked like someone from saddams private army, was able to do the job properly in 5 minutes flat..
these guys do this everyday.. they don't need joe blow off the street telling them what to do.. go in, point, say 'ah pa' and find out the price.. thats it, let the pros do their job and let the amatures stay quite. |

Hmm, I've said it before:
http://www.bumrungrad.com/
Five star care in a state of the art hospital in downtown Bangkok. Great, really great prices and care. have a holiday and get all of the work done at once (maybe at the end, not the beginning of the holiday! ).
I haven't really had dental work done here, but friends have. No real horror stories, but none that sounded great, and all sounded relatively expensive. Relative to Thailand, not the U.S., that is. |

I had a crown done in Jeonju for about 250,000 won. That was three years ago. Couldn't be much more today..... |
