Well, i think a mid-life crisis is a good sign, in a way; It means you have the time and the intelligence to contemplate where life has led you so far, plus the money to foolishly spend on selfish extravagances. Stupid people don't think to have mid-life crises, and poor people are too busy trying to make ends meet.

A mid-life crisis is by no means a good sign, in any way... Nor do they have anything to do with intelligence or one's financial situation... I kinda feel bad for those who have them...
A mid-life crisis is having feelings of self-doubt, regret, and emotional unrest - considering one's postion and standing in life, people start to feel trapped and think about "what might have been only if I had done this differently..." Hence, the crisis...
Harley's (which are cool), sports cars (cool too), new wardrobes (lame), etc. are merely accessories used to hide the way that person feels... Basically, they can't make any significant changes in their lives (perhaps career wise, or family wise), so they use these accessories to try to present a new image of themselves and to try and make themselves feel better about where they are in their lives...
To say that stupid people "don't think to have a mid-life crisis", and poor people "are too busy trying to make ends meet" to have a mid-life crisis is ridiculous... Nearly everyone's got enough brains and time for a little self-evaluation...
I won't, or at least certainly hope, to never have a mid-life crisis... I'm a little too young yet anyway... I hope to never grow up, anyway (thus making it kinda hard to have one)... I know that sounds a little dumb... Basically, I hope to make good, careful, conscious decisions all throughout my life so that I will never have to experience some sort of regret or mental unrest at mid life...
And, I'm sorry, but "the boy who dies with the most toys wins?" C'mon, now THAT'S something a stupid person would say... |

Mid-life crisis is a funny expression.
If I get run over by a bus tomorrow, thankfully, I will miss it entirely.
Getting drunk more often sounds good. |

I'm 36 and I wish I could have a mid-life crisis. Sounds fun, like throwing caution to the wind and indulging in irresponsibility.
I think it's reserved to those who have commitments: I wish I were married with kids.
But I don't drink much either, so not many morose moments.
And I have the hope that tomorrow is another day, perhaps the day that will change my life. It's like I'm still in my twenties with the future wide open! Nice to contemplate, but sad to imagine still being like in old age someday. |

Good comeback, guys, but check your history : the campaign by the Temperance League succeeded, and resulted in Prohibition.
