|
|
I'm looking for cheap pressies for my kids, and VCDs with Korean subs would go down really well. Where can I download those sort of films....
Also games would work nicely too, if anyone knows any good ones to recommend (for girls tho).
Ta!

I've found some Korean movies with subtitles on various torrent sites.
I know there are "asian movie" hubs on DC++ as well. http://dcplusplus.sourceforge.net/. Keep in mind that many hubs on DC++ require you to share files. But that's good cause no one likes a leecher. |

http://www.soribada.com/ is one you could try.
The movie spot is http://movie.soribada.com/
They used to be a free P2P site, but after some court battles, it looks like you have to pay. I clicked on one of the movies and it quoted 2,000won. You'd have to get someone(Korean) to help you register and show you the ropes, but you can probably get downloads with Korean subtitles from there.
Otherwise, you'll probably have to talk to some Koreans and ask them where they download stuff from. Most of the English sites don't have much in the way of English movies with Korean subtitles. I've come across an occasional Korean game(PS2/XBox), but not much else.
If you have a VCR, you could always borrow another from a friend or your workplace and just copy some that you rent. I think the cost would be about the same, but the outcome may not be the flashiest of gifts. I guess you could also rent DVDs and burn them, depending on your resources/computer.
Games? Lots here:
http://thepiratebay.org/ (no membership req'd - they have movies and other junk too)
and here:
http://www.torrentit.com/index.php (apparently not taking on new members, at least not this evening)
and here:
http://www.torrentleech.org/ (games and movies and software - I can give you an invite if you're interested)
and here:
http://blackcats-games.com/ (games and related only, currently - accepting new members, I believe)
I can't recommend any sort of game for your female students though. It seems like the only game any of the Korean punks(both male and female) are obsessed with is still Kart Rider.
Hope this mess is a bit of a help... |

Rather than trying to download or copy movies VCD are easily and cheaply available (2,500won) with both korean movies and english subtitles or american / english movies with korean subtitles.
Disney animated thru to Terminator type plus plenty of horror schlock.
There are three shops in Gangnam station which have a decent range.

if you download a movie with no subtitles, the 'vob-sub' program has been doing me very well. it automatically puts subtitles into windows media player.
it only works with .divx files, however.

this place does korean dramas with homemade subtitles. i know a poor substitute, but hey. they have a "drama of the week" or something where everybody gets together and seeds one show and you can usually download it reasonably quickly |
