Ok, people, please share your foreign restaurant recommendations here.

1) Ho Lee Chow in Itaewon - U.S. style Chinese food but has gotten pricier since it first opened years ago.

2) Khaosan in Hongdae - good Thai food and new and bigger location.

3) Puccini near Gangnam station - An Italian who used to manage La Tavola is now at this restaurant, but prices are high.

Tanto Tanto in Hongdae- (next to Gold Bar), good, reasonably priced, classy Italian place

Everest near Dongdaemun station- Nepalese (but just like Indian to my british taste buds)- [seems like Dongdaemun has got a lot going for it right now eh?]

Wood and Brick- Hongdae and Gwanghwamun- great Italian and deli stuff, but pricey

Aimo e Nadia - Seocho-Dong,Seocho-Gu- great Italian again, the advantage here being that you can bring your own wine (and stick around drinking it until 1am)

Ganga Blue- Seoul Finance Center Gwanghwamun- Indian food in a classy setting

La Tre Campane- Hongdae (in the backstreet behind Seokyo hotel, towards Hapjeong station) - best pizza in Seoul

Gecko's - Itaewon- good bar food

Bangkok- Itaewon- good thai food

the ramen place in the street next to Far East Broadcasting Co. - Hongdae (near Sangsu station) - authentic Japanese ramen

Suji's - Itaewon - Sunday roast, shepherds pie, chilli- homesickness food

Sorry Yaya...I (respectfully) disagree about Ho Lee Chow!

That place is awful. It's expensive, which you might not mind if the food didn't SUCK OUT LOUD! The meats they use are not even real. It's some kind of reconstituted processed meat. That's the main thing that turned me off. The noodles we had were only half cooked and not very hot. Just horrible all around. Clever name though, I'll give it that.

Now on to my favs:

Geckos: of course. Everything there is decent and decently priced.

Pattaya: I've been to all the Thai places, I think this is the best.

Petra: Middle Eastern food, absolutely fabulous! And well priced, and the owner Yasar is very nice.

Salam: Ok Ok it may not be the BEST, but I love Turkish food and this place is pretty authentic, including the atmosphere. It's also cheap, great for lunch or dinner.

Helios: Sides and appetizers are not always great, but the main courses are fabulous. Good pizza and pasta. Amazing steaks!

3 Alley Pub: Good place for a steak at 18,000won. Good drinks and nice quiet atmosphere for dinner conversation. Owner is a jerk though, so I don't go so much.

I've actually heard about 3 Alley owner Gunter being a jerk from several people, but I have had no problems with him. Hmmm...

Ipanema near Seodaemun station: Brazilian meat buffet. Some of the best meat I've had in this country. Lunch is a good deal at 16,000 won, but I think dinner is overpriced.

I've always found Gunter friendly, I guess running a bar in Itaewon is a stressful job so the guys always going to have the odd bad day.

I've been hanging about Gangnam recently and enjoy Jade Garden (Chinese), California (Japanese) and New York Steak House (err Steak).

I second the nod for

Salam: Great food (when they have everything on the menu) and a very decent price.

Santorini: (I think that is the name) Just behind the main strip has a decent Greek lunch. Not the cheapest though.

Great idea for a thread.

Like Swiss James said, Dongdaemun seems to have some draws. I like a few of the spots in the Russian quarter, near Dongdaemun Station, exit 9, I think. Just walk around look for Russian signs. Most of the restaurants are down little side streets, so just start exploring. (or see the related thread: http://www.eslcafe.com/forums/korea/viewtopic.php?t=25076)

I'm particularly interested in non-Itaewon restaurants. Keep 'em coming.

ganga in apkujeong is alright thai food but it's super pricey.

la lieto in apkujeong, near the nike store and JU mart, is a nice little italian place, and very reasonably priced. the italian food is what you'd expect - not totally authentic, but it's passable for korea. best italian i've had here.

little saigon on rodeo has some amazing pho and other vietnamese dishes. it's hard to find and i couldn't begin to explain where it is. but it's awesome.
