Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get a PS2 box chipped in Daegu ???
My got my mate a load of PS2 games in Indonesia but unfortunately I forgot that the box has to be 'chipped'.

I too am wondering about this.

There is a large computer market behind Migliore and I was thinking of canvassing the area this week to see if there is a place to mod a PS2. I'm sure it's possible in Daegu since it's a big enough city.

Anyways, if anyone already knows a place, it would save me some time if you post it here.

If you've got a slimline model PStwo, just order one of these.

I got one from Quantronics' retail store when I was in Sydney and it's the best mod ever. No need for a chip at all. It's just three little bits you place over sensors. Combine this with a Swap Magic Disc and you can boot any PS2 game from any region - even downloaded or copied ones.

Not a bad deal for $45 (US). Smile

Oh ya, sorry WM ... I guess I should have paid more attention to your OP ... I seem to have misread nearly everything you said ... - I'm in the middle of an ubuntu install at the moment which has been going on for almost 16hrs continuously ... yesterday was a long day.

This is an excellent idea though, I'm thinking about getting one for my friends PS2

Just one more question though ... what's the story with a slimline PS2 ???
What's the difference between that one and the normal ones ... (I'm guessing that it just comes in a slimmer case).

I may have found the anser to this today. I heard that there is a place in Jisan near Dong-A department store. I will try to scope it out this weekend and if it works, I will post directions here early next week.

I found the place.

Go to the Dong-A Department store in Jisan. Dong-a is on the corner of a large intersection. Find the GS25 which is practically right next to Dong-A on the smaller street which bisects the main drag. Once you find the GS25, cross the street and walk down the alleyway that is running perpendicular to it. Keep going down the street until you pass the arcade and a church and a C-Space convenience store come into view. At this point you should be really close so, start looking to your right for a small store (practically only as wide as it's own doorway), with a star on the sign. Go in and ask about a mod chip for which the guy charges 70,000 won (don't forget to bring your PS2 with you). You will be able to pick it up the next day along with any game copies that you asked to get.
