I showed up to school after vacation and found my computer completly unresponsive to the on button. Apparently I'm now supposed to stay at school and twiddle my thumbs during the time when I would prep as I have no computer. But I have to plan my lessons from scratch as the only teaching materials I have is the stuff I write. The school isn't going to replace it despite me telling them that this was going to happen for a year.

Feeling how important I am in the scheme of things....

Then don't teach until they buy you another one. You can tell them that you cannot plan your lessons unless you have a computer...

Wow, CLG, you seem to have terrible luck when it comes to finding a semi-decent school.

I'm being serious here - I'd try and get fired from that place if I were you. But you'd be surprised though - sometimes it's hard to get fired. Do an awful job and the kids like you even more... Jesus...

If they're not pretty darn peppy with getting your computer up and running again, I suggest you go to a PC bang and bill the school for your time. As an added benefit, you can smoke while you make your lesson plans. Smile

Try the little red switch on the power bar. That's what I always forget.

My school got me a computer for my residence and I have one in both the high school and middle school buildings. One crashed Thursday and the computer teacher had it repaired the next day. I'm really starting to think I lucked out majorly with this job.

Yeah cause that's going to work . . .

I don't know why but I'm under the impression that you work for a public school. Is having a computer not covered by your contract?

Complain to the principle, if you don't have a new computer in a week, turn up to school early and swap his for yours. Do this a couple of times until you both get bored then start trying to use his office.
