I've just got a couple of those bachelor meal, pre-cooked rice in a plastic tub things.
I can see I have to put it in the microwave, but am I supposed to poke holes in the lid or anything first? |

Not sure as I've never cooked one, but I'd imagine you either open the lid just a little or poke a few holes. Otherwise, wouldn't it explode in the microwave? |

hehehe, welcome to the hunja life!
I usually open 'em out put 'em on a plate - in the MW for 2/2.5 minutes.
Or, if you are adventurous, in a frying pan, a little olive oil, trumeric and fry with kimchee ....... |

I can't read the directions on these things and I don't have a microwave. Is there some way to eat this stuff without using a microwave?? Like just adding boiling water or something?
Thanks for the tip about frying it with kimchi, by the way. |

On most brands there is a tab to open the cover, and a sort of diagonal line about 1cm in from the edge. Open to that line (just enough to vent) and microwave for two minutes. Get the packets of gim (seaweed) (ideally the olive oil flavor) and eat the rice with it. Mmm. |

I boil them for about 5 minutes.
But seriously, buy a rice cooker. Once you've had one you'll wonder how you ever lived without one. |

You can also get the kind with some sort of sauce. Open up the plastic cover of the rice bowl, empty the sauce packet in and chuck it in the microwave for 2 minutes. You can get Jajjang and curry as well as more western type stuff (mushroom risotto,etc.).
Not as good as making stuff from scratch, but not a bad way to get a quick meal. |

Oh and save the little plastic bowl. They make great little bowls, useful for holding cookies or veggies you've sliced up for cooking. |

ok, look at the plastic cover, there's probably an area that has a dotted line with a tab. open the cover to the dotted line (this is only a small open area).
then stick it in the microwave for 2min.
then eat it. |

Sit it in some hot water - but it takes longer. |
