So I was in sinchon (nr hongdae, not the other one) on Saturday. Myself and a few friends were enjoying a mid-bar snack of delicious odeng when a full on street brawl kicked off Korean stylee...mostly pushing, shoving and hair pulling (seriously, from "grown" men) but one nasty incident when one guy used another guy's head as a football (the guy was on the floor, and he was slow to get up)....gave me a real sense of nostalgia...just like Friday nights outside the local Ritzy, all that was missing was the dodgy kebab!!
so anyway, I'm curious if anyone has amusing/scary Korean fight stories...I have a few, but lets hear your's first!!!

Alan

yeah saw these LA Kyopos almost kick to death a korean guy..
there were about 100 people watching just saying OTEKE, ohhh OTEKE!
mean while while I am walking up the street I can see the korean guy get knocked down by three of the kyopos yeah 3 onto 1 .. and then I see the first boot to his head.. then about 3 more I mean full on soccer kicks to his head.. as I got closer the 2nd boot knocked hiim out.. and the third one just looked like a sack of potatoes being kicked around NO LIFE AT ALL IN THE NECK! then I jumped in and said THATS IT!!!
he'e had enough!!! you want to kill the guy too!!!
then the kyopo thinking he is all that with his mate backing him up.. goes to me.. you want some too???!!
I then say!! dude chill out.. look at the guy!! he is almost dead!!!
then one of his homeboys come running over and say YO YO we GOTS TO go DOG the 50 are coming !!! so they just bail .. but then about 2 minutes later I see the bouncers of NB chasing one of them down the street and 2 minutes after than the bouncer is walking back with one of them holiding him by the head!! and walking him to harlem where another bouncer has another guy! they were not looking so tough now then the cops came and well you could imagine the rest of the story!
first of all! Koreans dont like Kyopos! becuase they dont go to military!
and if they cant speak korean. they hate them more.. and now coming to korea and bringing that la style here and almost killing someone.. you could imagine the bouncers would have taken some punches and the cops would have abused them! then the idiot kyopos who probably got sent here to get away from all the loser life they had going for them in LA ends up getting phone calls from the cops to their uncles or aunts! and
"yes Yobosayo! this is the seoul police! your son almost killed someone today and the fines and hospital bills will be in access of 30million won!!
OK! so you had better come down to the station and pick up your nephew
thank you!

seen a few things here..

best was an all in, bout 20 people, guys and gals.. 1 of the guys stabbed a korean girl and just then the cops turned up.. everybody bolted and 1 fat cop took chase.. well.. ran about 10 steps and gave up..

another was in front of a nightclub.. bout 10 or so guys, i wanted to play too, but my boss pulled me out of it.. we sat at a stall eating some korean slop and within 10 minutes 5 police cars came and arrested everybody

another time 2 koreans were calling me names. so, i beat em up and ran away... Smile (broke 3 bones in my hand).. never heard a thing about it..

and just this year, i was with a very small korean drinking friend of mine after a marathon at a bar.. we went to get smokes and he was tagging along behind me. next minute i heard all this yelling, turned around and three college guys were kicking the shit outta him.. he was on the ground wearing feet on his face, so... i beat them up and checked my pal who was 1/2 awake.. he said i was gunna get in big trouble and told me to go before the police came, so i took off.. (broke a finger that time)

10 minutes later a bloody police car came up behind me and pulled me over.. 1 of the guys was in the car pointing me out.. well, i got arrested, went back to the police station and sat there while the korean guys and their girlfriends were explaining how i attacked them, they didn't want to hear a thing i had to say...

30 minutes later, my pal stumbled in, head all opened up, and explained that they were giving him the beating of his life and i stopped them.. 15 minutes later the mysterious 1 armed man walked in (no joke) and backed up my pal's story..

suddenly, i was being treated like a king.. police gave me coffee, asked me if i wanted to call my embassy, asked me if i wanted the 3 guys punished and then they called the head professor at my school and explained the situation.. he came down (at 5am) in 10 minutes flat, showed some id and took me home... haven't seen my pal again and never heard boo since..

koreans seem to be bigger men in numbers

Wow! Looks like that poor guy owes you his life (assuming he survived). That was mighty ballsy of you. *pats him on the head admiringly*

I use to live in a hasook among all the Shinchon madness for about 6 months.

Anyone, one Sunday morning around 9am, I woke up because of some yelling and screaming on the street. There were around 3-4 guys getting into something with 3-4 other guys (all Koreans). Plus they all had their girls with them.

That morning from my window I watched one of the bloodiest nastiest fights I've ever seen of my life. It went on for about 30 minutes with just constant kicking and punching. Even when the police go there, they didn't just run away.. none of them would back away and run (which would happen in the West).

It was amazing though.. when one seemed like he was flat out gone from a hit or kick.. he would suddenly rise himself up from the street.. and then get right back into the fray with some nasty kick. As there was a total of about 6-8 going total.. seemed like there was always one or two down.. and one or two trying to get back into it.

I saw a huge brawl that stopped traffic in front of Milore in Dongdaemun... seems like a couple of gangsters got into an arguement with one of the friendly ( Wink ) parking attendants, most of who were gangsters at the time.
anyway all hell broke loose, there were security guys from Doota, Mileore and it was on... it was at least 10-3. most of the guys had lost their shirts and had full body tats, there were bikes being thrown and a guy getting a boost of the bonet of a car so he could get a better jump on some guys head. there wasn't any masses of blood, but it was an all out brawl. no cars were moving, people were all stopping to look... and just before the cops arrived one of the heads at Mileore ran down there and told all his guys to piss off, and they all disappated.
I think this was a big reason they had a big turnover of security and parking guys.

Sounds like some of you have seen some nasty fights out here....still though, none of the fights I've seen (or been involved in Embarassed ) seem as scary as back home...there isn't that random/casual feel to it (anyone from U.K should know what i mean..!!)

I loved "Shaun" too-- I laughed, I cried.
However, there's a special place in my heart for "Versus"-- a freaked out Japanese zombie movie about gangsters in the "Forest of Resurrection." It's like a Japanese "Evil Dead."

Either 28 Days Later (cos they walk past my house in London, and the shots of 'empty' London are amazing), or Shaun (because my friend is listed on imdb as "Zombie (uncredited)" which is just excessively cool.

That's a severe beating and at least 4 full force football kicks to the head. That would usually kill someone.
