|

Just returned from the Osaka visa run last Friday—a real piece of cake and you get to eat it too nowadays. Why? Because as of a few weeks ago it now takes two days to do the visa run—no exceptions. This is a great deal because youre all done by early afternoon and your flight wont probably leave until around 7 pm the next day. So its transformed from a stressful event into a mini-vacation. Cowabunga! Some people didnt know this and actually had same-day round trip ticketsno fun for them. Other possibly useful information I discovered: Japan trades with Cuba, hence the Romeo y Julieta Im smoking as I type, not to mention the Havana Club #3 in the bars and duty free shops, and being a South Florida transplant with Caribbean soulwell, its all good. ~jjj |

just wanted to confirm what jayjayjay just put up. it seems most of us and most schools don't know that the consulate in osaka has changed its rules. it now takes two days. it looks as though it'll be trips to fukuoka instead since it's cheaper. |

Osaka is nice place. I would not mind a long weekend there. Hell, I'd pay for it myself. |

Quick question as we have a guy going there tomorrow for a two-day run. When did they start handing out the finished visas? Was it when they opened the next day or after some specific hour the next day? |

Don't all advanced economies trade with Cuba (if there is something to trade for), except the US? Haven't I seen Cuban cigars in Korea?

Most do, but not S. Korea--probably because of US policy spill over here. But, in any case you will not find Cuban products in Korea. Incidentally, Cuba is probably one the most beautiful places I've ever visited and the people the warmest. I highly recommend the trip, especially if you're interested in SCUBA; the Bay of Pigs is an awesome dive. |

The smoke shop in the mall next to the Hamilton Hotel, second floor, sells plenty of fine Cuban cigars, as do a number of upper end department stores. |

Thanks, I'm there. I guess cigars are not really part of this culture, thus I hadn't seen any Cubans. What about Havana Club rum? Anyone know where it can be found? |

The Fukuoka consulate had visas ready by 11 am the next day. I turned in my paperwork around 11 am the previous day.
Turn in your paperwork. Walk over to the beach, relax with a book and enjoy two days free of work. |
