I've figured out why Korean restaurants don't have chairs - it's all about self-preservation. It has nothing to do with ondal heating and everything to do with alcohol. After consuming three shots of soju and half a beer, the average K is shit-faced and would hurt himself hitting the floor after falling off his chair. |

Sure, it's the whole ondol/tradition thing, but it's also to reduce overhead. Don't forget that a sheet of linoleum is cheaper than three dozen chairs. |
