I'm interested in living n Korea, however; I'm allergic to shellfish, peanuts, cashews and pistachios. I'm very unfamiliar with Korean fare. Will I be able to safely navigate a Korean menu or will I end up being poisoned every time I go out? |

A lot of the stews have shellfish. But a prhasebook should teach you how not to ask for it. As far as nuts I think you'll be safe, but don't take my word for it. |

long pink strips of some kind of seafood meat in kimbap are very common too, so watch out for those |

It's 'usually' fake crab, not real shellfish but made of fish made to look and taste like crab... uh, but of course I'm not allergic so it's easy for me to say.
Yeah, you're going to have to be very careful in Korea. How are you with Sesame seeds? They use a lot of sesame oil in Korea. |

I am allergic to many things, including fish, and do just fine here. Just learn what dishes have shellfish in them and don't order those dishes. There are many things here that you can eat that have no shellfish in them....As for the nuts, there should be no worry there. The only time I have seen them is at a bar. |
