I meant that I only know one engineer with 8 years of experience that's been looking for a job for a while. He won't take anything less than 60K here in Phoenix. I'm saying that if the OP has a friend that is looking for an engineering position, it may be harder and take longer to find that kind of a job.

On the other hand, a communications major might take a $15/hr job to make ends meet till he finds something better. Most people like me did this when they got back from Korea so they could feed themselves while they kept looking for something better/enroll in school or whatever.

After about two years I was bumped up to the next level, then the next, and now I'm applying for a position within the company that is based out of Phoenix, makes 75K a year.

I've been back for 7 years.

Thanks for the POVs. My brothers problem has been that he has no experience in his field after being out of school for three years. He is definitely not holding out for 60k.
As for us, were just trying to save up enough to start our own business. Weve both done the corporate thing and are tired of working our arses off to make other people rich.
