So i'm out with a buddy on friday night and we stop in to a local for a few drinks. We initially were the only punters in the place but a couple of ajosshi came in a bit after us. They introduced themselves and started a conversation in broken english, although they were a little annoying, they were happy to buy a few drinks for us so that was cool. One of the guys was getting a little too friendly and started grabbing my arm and saying" ohh, good good", then he started rubbing my chest with the same result, i was getting a little uncomfortable with his invasion of my private space when he....and i kid you not....this is totally kosher..." CUPPED HIS HAND AND REACHED DOWN AND GRABBED MY BALLS AND DICK". My instant reaction was to push the guy, he went flying and smashed his head against a cabinet on the wall, then he looks up at me with this "what did you do that for?" expression on his face.
Ummm, i don't know what to think about this really, i mean what a freak...this country can really throw you curve balls sometimes. |

Could it be true, then, that there really are many closet gays in Korea?? |

Do you look russian? Many Korean men also hit on russian men for sex. It doesn't just happen to the russian-looking women. |

I've been hit on by a lot of gay guys here...actually, more than back home. I blame Hollywood partly for this phenomenon. Not only are all Western women portayed as "easy" but also that there are all kinds of people who are into homosexuality. I think you may've pushed him too hard, but whatever. In the past, when they've put their hand on my back and rubbed and then began making their way downwards, I'd remove their hand and they'd usually take the hint. It is a bit disturbing when they clamp onto your thigh, but the same method usually works in that situation, too. Either that, or don't be kind and friendly toward them - seems like a lot of these poor f*ckers, both gay or straight, are missing a lot of that in their lives. |

I will never get used to the way Korean males treat each other with such caring and sweetness. (I'm not sure that it's homosexual-related, but...who knows?)
Just a week or so ago, I caught myself staring at two high school boys, who were sitting at a bus stop. One was feeding the other pieces of chocolate, hand to mouth, like you might feed a baby or your girlfriend.
Men holding hands, men holding each other as they walk down the street, men taking turns scrubbing each other openly at a bathhouse. You just don't see that anywhere in Latin America or most parts of the States.
There's a coffee commercial on tv with two guys who end up sitting rather close together in a tree, smiling at each other. It would never fly in the States. (All the coffee commercials I can recall seeing in Chile involved men and women in romantic situations.)
And why don't they feel that way about their wives anyway?
It may be explained by one of the Korean teachers I worked with (my hogwon is a kind of revolving door for Korean teachers). He commented on the shock he felt about the decadent-like lifestyle he experienced while spending about six weeks in Omaha (in Omaha!). He went to a club and saw men and women dancing together, making out, etc. He told me that in America men and women are intertwined together but it's not like that at all in Korea.
Hard to know exactly the dimensions of what he was trying to say, though. |

I believe its just thier way, not an expression of homosexuality. I know a guy who is married and will stroke my arm. A girl I know does the same thing, I take it as curiosity, not a sexual thing. I have hairy arms, but smashing a guys head into something, maybe a little harsh. |

Wow, most korean guys just act gay in general, but that might actually be a gay come on. |

Perhaps you missed the part about his balls being cupped. |

At a previous gig, I'd run round a grassy park, pausing for pushups. An adjosshi wondered over to me and introduced himself as an English teacher.
His English was at the level (not good) that made this credible Was trying to assess him for a possible tieup for privates, so kept the conversation going over a week or two's meets.
One day, he suddenly advances and grabs my organs. I thrust him away, after a moment's deliberation, I asked him if he was gay. He says no.
Afterwards, as i had time to recount to myself all the chat, I became more and more furious.
I should have flung him down and ground his head into the earth. Wish I could have the time over again. |

Yea, I encounter similar stuff everyday, luckily not the grabbing of my manhood. Thats definitely over the line. I dont know what I would do if that happened to me.
But Im not sure if they are just over friendly and dont respect the idea of ones personal space or closet fags, but when I first came here, I thought that all the men were gay. Now, I think just about half of them are. |

I think you may be wrong. Maybe your situations were different than mine, but at least 9 times out of 10 my gaydar functions without fail. Granted, a couple of times here it went on high-alert when I was taken by surprise. Also, just because a guy is married, does not mean that he has no homosexual tendencies...he may actually be miserably married. I totally agree with the smashing of the head thing; however, I do understand a bit of the OP's shock given the situation. |
