I despise it. One of the worst series I've ever used.
I can't believe that any school would ever take that series over Let's Go.
My boss was umming and ahhing over giving this to me to teach at my elementary school gig.
That would have been a quit on the spot instance.
No way am I going through the crap of teaching that shit to classes of 30 students.
Awful.

I must say I'm a Gogo lover too. Two questions for the Gogo haters:

1) Why specifically do you hate Gogo? (just curious)

2) What textbook do you use and what's your opinion of it?

Just curious, why do you love it?

Any book that uses pidgin/unrealistic language has no business being in use. "Here, kids! Let's speak like no native speaker on the planet!"

"A pidgin is a new language which develops in situations where speakers of different languages need to communicate but don't share a common language." What do you mean?

Here are some random bits from Gogo 3:

Can I have an ice cream cone, please?
Whose ruler is this? It's Jenny's.
Where are my glasses?
What subjects do you like, Gogo? I like art and history.

These are unrealistic?! Sound good to me. I think that a lot of people don't like Gogo because it's a bit silly. But after all, you're teaching kids! Silly is better than boring!

Why do I like it?
- It's organized. No hunting for target grammar or vocabulary. After a few units the kids know what to do.
- The vocabulary is good.
- The grammar progression is logical with a few exceptions.
- The songs rock! If you can't jam to "What does he do?" in Gogo 4 then maybe you aren't giving songs a chance, and that's unfair to the kids.

Gogo is not perfect. No textbook is. But it works for me and my students. And you know what? I hated Gogo when I first started using it.

The unrealistic facet is an serious lack of context. Of course, a teacher can and should adapt the materials they have, but as pointed out by others, I'd much rather start with better material.
