Thanks for the nice proofreading job! Yes, "restaurant" is easy to spell, as you may have noticed the other 50+ times I spelled it correctly! Guess I was just psyched to get the site up, and after working past my bedtime, didn't catch that one.

Like Faulkner, I'm from the South, so I hope people can follow a long sentence. A "run on" is when two or more independant clauses are linked without the benefit of a coordinating conjunction. My sentence is correct in this sence. Nevertheless, your highlightling it enabled me to catch a preposition err. . .it's also been corrected.

The "Animals are our friends. . ." comes from a sign on one of the restaurants near my home. Glad some folks can appreciated it, no matter how you take it!

Again, thanks for taking the time to proofread. I guess I'll have to sort the constructive from non-constructive. I'd really like people to check out the places near their homes and report back on the general accuracy of my info and fill in the blanks.

One of the reasons for the sight is so foreigners can also support the farmers, restauranteurs and others who are making an impact in their communities.

As for most Koreans not understanding "vegetarianism," well, it's a relatively new concept here, at least as those of us from the West understand it. Even many Buddhist monks in Korea are not vegetarian! Using the Korean words for vegetarian, or "I don't eat meat," can be useful, but most Koreans will not understand this to include broth, geletins, etc. However, most of the restaurants I list are run by vegetarians. Many are vegan. The website tries to offer useful information; thus I warn people that just asking is no guarantee if you are eating at an omnivourous restaurant. This is primarily a warning to people who have newly arrived and might not be aware of this.

I think you have a good idea, though I admit I got bored after reading the first paragraph. You should cut it down.

Thanks for the resources. I have been subjected to int'l restaurants in Itaewon for most of my meals on weekends, but I'm looking forward to trying some around Gyeonggi.

Also, check out www.happycow.net. I'm sure the Korea section is outdated, but it's worth a shot.

website looks really good I reckon- but the list of stuff for Seoul is really overwhelming. Can you break it up by putting the name of the restaurant or shop in Bold or a bigger font, and maybe the phone number in italics?

Would also be good to group them according to either subway line or area (Gangnam, Sinchon etc.).

A message board would be good for feedback- you can set up a free one at proboards.com and then link to it from your site.

can all you critics take it down a notch, please? you people can't put the red pen down and let the teacher in you take a break? or is skinsk05 the only one to ever have a typo in an email or post?

apparently there are those among us who don't correct enough papers. which gives me a super idea. all you sticklers out there, come one, come all; instead of harping on some tiny mistake in a fellow native english-speaker's post, why not email me instead. I'll be happy to fax you my students' essays and you can proofread them for me. a win-win situation. you can feel superior for spotting tiny flaws in spelling and grammar, and i can read the newspaper and get paid for doing nothing. in the meantime, if you want something to pick apart and get your panties in a bunch, you're in luck. note the many sentence fragments and grammatical no-nos, not to mention the improper punctuation and complete disregard for capitalization, that appear in this post. enjoy!
