Just a question from someone who is educated, teaches in South Korea, is a member of this forum. Are we as as members of this forum really interested in hearing others opinions? Or do we have our set criteria and only wish to discuss the points where it differs?

A lot of irrelevant points are made on forums like these.

What do you expect?

Why did you post this? Do you want to hear the opinions of others, or do you just want people to ponder your intelligent questions?

I'm just wondering - as a member of this forum - what YOU want. I know why I post sometimes....

Nobody actually changes their opinions, or ever admits to being wrong in any debates on here.
The only satisfaction from arguing a point on daves is increasing your general knowledge in the process, by researching topics.

I've admitted I'm wrong before. I can still have the painful memories of doing so...

It's possible to get very different perspectives on a lot of things here (though I often don't like or relate to the perspective I get on Korean culture, but that's life). The CE forum can too quickly descend into willy-waving though. It is possible that not everyone has an opinion on everything - thus it can be cool to read posts about a topic as a neutral observer.

The discussions about Korean women are interesting though, mainly because my experience is invariably the exact opposite of what's being claimed for them. (The ones about Korean men doubly so, particularly when Corporal wades in...)

All anyone ever does on this board is generalise...

It was once said by a pope that the pope is less than God but more than man. And it can be said of me that I am less the a demigod but so brilliant, clever, correct, and wise that only a foolish serf would choose folly by disagreeing with me.

Still I hope all goes well with all men even esl canada teachers (canada lowercase on purpose) I hope I meet all of you when I come to Seoul for the KOTESOL in October (all expenses via my public teaching job as they recognize my greatness)
